Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho says that Everton and Manchester United have similar ambitions after the Blues showed big investment over the last two seasons.
Speaking in his pre-match press conference today, Mourinho said that the task of beating Everton would be difficult given the level of investment in the playing staff, and highlighted the signings of Yerry Mina, Lucas Digne, and Andre Gomes from Barcelona as a signal of Everton’s intent.
Mourinho is under fire at Old Trafford and many feel that Everton will be facing United at the perfect moment as the Blues seek to maintain their place above the Red Devils in the Premier League.
Asked about the task of beating Everton, Mourinho said, “Difficult, incredible investment.
“We knew the club would move in that direction, very good players, players from Barcelona.
“So that is the level which Everton wants to reach. Their ambitions are very similar to our ambitions.”
Mourinho knows that his team are under pressure as they face Everton, and this could all be part of his way of taking the focus away from those players and put the pressure on to Everton.
