Everton boss Marco Silva says that he does not know what the future holds for left-back Leighton Baines.
Baines, now 33, started the season in the first team but has since lost his place to former Barcelona man Lucas Digne, but Silva says he still has faith in the former England defender.
Baines has been at Everton for 11 years since signing from Wigan and has cemented his place in Evertonian’s hearts over the years with his wand of a left foot, a never say die attitude, and in part the partnership he formed with Steven Pienaar on Everton’s left side.
Silva added that Baines continues to work hard at Finch Farm and is helping his team-mates, which given his reputation as a model professional, is no less than can be expected.
Silva said to his pre-match press conference, ‘He started the season playing in the first XI, now he is not playing, I don’t know what will happen in the future.
‘Of course he wants to play, like all the others but he is working every day, happy, helping all his team-mates.
‘He started the season in the team and I have the same confidence in him that I had in the past.’
What do you think? Should Baines have a place in the Everton eleven?
