Everton Director of Football Marcel Brands says that he is happy that Portuguese midfielder Andre Gomes is at the club and wants to keep him here.
Gomes is on loan from Spanish giants Barcelona, who paid £31m for this services from Valencia, but Gomes failed to make much of an impact at the Nou Camp and suffered heavily with injuries.
Indeed, he was injured when he landed at Goodison Park, and Evertonians had to wait until October to see him in action, but once they did, it is safe to say we fell in love!
Gomes’ ability and composure with a football at his feet is a joy to behold, and it is easy to see why he would command such a high price should Everton want to sign him on a permanent basis from Barcelona.
He told BBC Radio Merseyside: “He’s adapted so well. He’s a very smart guy, a very social guy. I always liked him as a player so I’m so happy he’s at Everton and our big concern is now to keep him”
