Everton left back Lucas Digne says he loves being busy on the pitch during the festive period and capped his delight with two goals against Burnley as the Blues ran riot in a 5-1 away win.
It was the perfect tonic after the drubbing suffered at home to Spurs on Sunday, and Digne’s free kick in the first half made it two nil after Yerry Mina opened the scoring with a header.
He added his second in the second half after Gylfi Sigurdsson had made it 3-0 from the penalty spot in the first half.
Everton countered Burnley’s rough and tumble approach to the game and second half substitute Richarlison completed the day’s scoring with the last kick of the game to make it a 5-1 which will take the Blues into the New Year on a much higher note.
Digne told the BBC, “We feel very good. After Sunday we needed to prove that we can win and play very well. It was an important win for club and the fans.
“We needed to start very well and after 30 minutes we were 3-0 up and it was fantastic.”
“The last four years I have had five days or a week off but I prefer to play in front of the fans and the family. It’s perfect for Christmas.”
