Everton boss Marco Silva admits that his side’s form has to change, in particular at Goodison Park, as the Blues look to start 2019 in winning ways against Leicester tomorrow.
The fixture computer, and the people who then change the output to suit Sky and BT Sports, have been particularly unkind to Everton this festive period, with this our fourth match in ten days.
But Silva says that, despite not having the normal period of time to prepare for the visit of Leicester, there should be no excuses and the players need to realise the importance of each fixture.
Everton’s last home game was a 6-2 drubbing at the hands of Spurs, and Silva will be desperate to ensure that Leicester are not granted the same freedom nor gifted goals in the same manner.
He will take some heart from the meeting between the two sides earlier this season, when Gylfi Sigurdsson’s wonderful strike brought Everton away fro Leicester with all three points.
He told the BBC before the game, “We don’t have time to prepare in the normal way but that is the schedule and we have to put in our players’ minds how important the next game is.
“We have to change our recent form at home and give a different answer. It will be a tough match but we have to give 100% to win it.”
