Silva unhappy after home humiliation

Everton boss Marco Silva has told reporters at Goodison Park how unhappy he is to have witnessed his side’s capitulation against Spurs and slump to a 6-2 home defeat ahead of Christmas.

The Blues had initially taken the lead and many Evertonians felt as though there was something in the game for Everton, but when Dominic Calvert-Lewin’s headed goal was wrongly disallowed and Everton were denied a two-nil lead, things started to turn.

A mix up between Jordan Pickford and Kurt Zouma allowed the visitors to draw level, and draw confidence, before they showed why they should be spoken about in the same breath as Manchester City and other title contenders.

Gylfi Sigurdsson briefly raised spirits but Goodison Park was emptying before he scored to make the score 4-2, and when Spurs continued their rout then Evertonians headed off into the Christmas night a very unhappy bunch indeed.

“[It was a] Really bad afternoon for us. Really bad result for us and our fans,” Silva said.

“We made a mistake when they equalised and the game changed completely.

“Everything was easy for them. It is something we will work on for sure.

“I already told them (the players) you have to be more aggressive. More in the second-half we didn’t see that. We have to keep together and work together. “
