Everton have reportedly rejected an opening bid of around £25m from Paris St Germain for Idrissa Gana Gueye, but it is expected that more bids will come in before the end of the January transfer window.
Gueye joined Everton from Aston Villa for a fee of £7.1m in the summer of 2016 and quickly settled at the heart of the Everton midfield, becoming the bedrock of a side that often failed to match the guile he showed.
A tough tackling pocket rocket, Gueye rightly attracted positive reports and has become a player that Everton rely on in order to bring steel to the midfield and break down opposition moves.
The 29 year old would be sorely missed if Everton allow him to join the French side, and would be difficult to replace before the window closes in 9 days’ time.
Gueye has made 86 appearances for the Blues in the Premier League and in his first season won more tackles than any other player in the Premier League.
