Everton boss Marco Silva says that the ambition of the club matches that of the fans, and that they want to go on a long cup run, starting today against Lincoln City of League Two.
The Blues’ boss has come under pressure of late after several bad results, including a 6-2 defeat at home to Spurs, but says that he and the fans want the same thing.
Everton have a proud tradition in the FA Cup, but have not reached the final in almost a decade now, and being able to end a 23 year wait for silverware would put Silva straight into the history books at Goodison Park.
He did, however, hint that the side to face The Imps would not be the same that many would expect to see in the Premier League, with James McCarthy and Leighton Baines set for rare starts.
Silva said that his side need to respect their opponents, who are currently runaway leaders of their division, while speaking to reporters in his pre-match conference.
