Everton boss Marco Silva says he would love it if Evertonians could recreate the atmosphere from the Merseyside derby when Chelsea come to visit Goodison Park on Sunday.
Evertonians raised the roof in the last home game at Goodison Park, and helped the Blues take a valuable point from local rivals Liverpool and there were many statements from players and management after the game that the fans had been “the 12th man.”
Now, Silva wants to recreate that atmosphere to help the Blues overcome Chelsea in what would be only our 10th win over the Londoners in the Premier League era.
There are calls to action from Evertonians to once again bring banners and, perhaps more importantly, their singing voices, with the added incentive that former Evertonian youth prospect Ross Barkley could return to Goodison Park for the first time.
Silva told his pre-match press conference, “If our fans can repeat the atmosphere, it would be fantastic for all of us. It could be the key.
“Last weekend was tough for them and they didn’t deserve it.
“Overall, the big frustration from last weekend was with ourselves. We played with quality moments in the first half, then we had chances to score a third or fourth at the start of the second half – but we didn’t.
“We have to react differently.”
