Everton’s Brazilian winger Bernard says that he is still feeling his way into the English game despite impressing with some fine form in a Blue shirt.
Signed on a free in the summer, Bernard has shown glimpses of brilliance and is hoping to work his way back into the national squad, and says he is enjoying his best moment in the Premier League.
When he signed, Bernard was struggling with a shoulder injury and had not had a full pre-season programme – certainly not at Everton’s level – and says that he is still finding his feet in the English game.
Bernard said: “I did not have a pre-season and was out for more than five months with my shoulder injury – but now I am feeling this is my best moment in the Premier League.
“It is my first season in this country and I feel very good with Everton and in English football. I have been adapting and understanding how English football works.”
For many players, once they have a full pre-season under their belts with a new club, they go on to show their best form, which is exciting for Evertonians as Bernard has already been playing the kind of football that gets us out of our seats.
