They dominated possession at 68% as Gylfi Sigurosson picked up the man of the match following a second half brace. He has been the star player of the season so far, as he continues to perform for the side each week. Everton were also very clinical in this game as they amazingly had just four shots on target.
Following this Everton faced off against rivals Liverpool at Goodison Park. It was a very close encounter throughout with the game finishing 0-0, putting a dent in Liverpool’s title hopes. Either side could have won the game, with limit chances create.
Everton then following this up with a 3-2 loss away at Newcastle. This was one of the most frustrating performances of the season, considering they were 2-0 up after just 32 minutes, before three late goals from Newcastle completely turning the game around. Everton will certainly feel this is three points dropped.
Everton have now picked up two wins in succession, firstly an impressive 2-0 victory at home to Chelsea. They had limited possession at just 32% but created a lot of chances and were clinical, as the three points were much deserved. This put a big dent into the top four hopes of Chelsea as star players Richarlison and Sigurdsson got on the scoresheet. Another victory has followed as Everton beat West Ham 2-0 away from home, following two first half goals.
