Everton captain and veteran defender Phil Jagielka says he hopes that Kurt Zouma will sign on a permanent deal from Chelsea in the summer after a successful loan spell at Goodison Park.
Zouma also spent all of last season on loan away from Chelsea – at Stoke – but after proving his ability in the Premier League it is a worry that Chelsea’s transfer embargo may see them ask him to stay in London and try for a place in their first team.
This is something that Jagielka, along with plenty of other Evertonians, hopes is not the case, and the Everton captain admitted that there will be a bit of pressure put on the Frenchman to stay at Goodison Park.
Cited by Tribal Football, Jagielka said: “He’s been brilliant.
“He’s come and wanted to play more games. He had a bad injury a few years ago and so for his own career and development that’s what he wants.
“He’s been brilliant, and the situation with Chelsea will probably play some part with where he is next season but we’ll have to wait and go from there.”
