Everton boss Marco Silva insists that the defeat away to Fulham, in the midst of a run of games which saw the Blues put Chelsea, Arsenal and Manchester United to the sword, does not make his side inconsistent.
The Blues’ boss was speaking ahead of an away trip to Crystal Palace and was asked whether or not he felt that his side were showing signs of inconsistency by winning several games at home but losing to an already relegated side away.
He reminded those at his press conference that he had told them that Fulham would prove tough opponents, and playing with the freedom of the removal of pressure to stay in the Premier League, they gave Everton the kind of treatment that the Toffees have been handing out to the Sky six.
“For me, when we lose one game away or at home it can happen,” Silva said in his press conference ahead of Saturday’s trip to Crystal Palace. “It’s not a moment to talk about inconsistency in our team.
“It can happen even though I always prepare the team to win. All of you expected after our three wins in a row to go there (to Fulham) and win easily. I told you it would be a difficult match, and we prepared our players in that way.
“They were better than us. We didn’t perform the way I wanted, but it’s not a matter of inconsistency because if you look at our last six games, our form is really good.”
