The Liverpool Echo says that Everton manager Marco Silva is keen to bring Juventus forward Mario Mandzukic to Goodison Park if the opportunity arose.
The 33 year old Croat is said to be admired by Silva, but is a big earner compared to his counterparts in Italy, so Everton would need to get rid of some of the deadwood on the books in order to accommodate another wage.
Although Mandzukic signed a new deal at Juventus at the end of last season, contracting him until 2021, he could be tempted to prove himself in the Premier League, especially as he was chosen ahead of Everton’s Nikica Jelavic internationally, even when Jelavic was at his goalscoring best.
At 33, he wouldn’t be a long term investment, but Marcel Brands has already said that he doesn’t want any big name signings to get in the way of the development of Dominic Calvert-Lewin.
A big centre forward in the traditional mould, Mandzukic has scored goals at the highest level in each of the leagues he’s played in, could he recreate that form in the Premier League for Everton?
