Everton left back Lucas Digne says that a win in Switzerland against As Monaco was the perfect way to round off the start to pre season.
The Frenchman, who celebrated his birthday this weekend, very nearly scored for the Blues but saw his shot fly just over.
Instead he was on hand to congratulate Seamus Coleman as the irishman got the winner near the end.
Everton now return to the UK and face Wigan on Wednesday in front of a bumper crowd as Evertonians have taken almost 9,000 seats.
“It was a good game, a tough game after the hard week and the score was good for us,” said Digne, speaking to the official site.
“It was important for us to finish this week with the victory because we trained very hard and it’s a bonus.
“We had two sessions every day and we were tired today but we fight in every game for the blue jersey and that is the most important thing.
“When we can win like this after all the hard work, it’s the best way.”
