Merseyside Police in case of mistaken identity between Everton and Liverpool

Merseyside Police have issued a tweet about a Liverpool fan being banned from all football grounds for three years, with an image of Goodison Park as the background.

Anthony Mullen was filmed not once, but twice, being a nuisance to others going about the business before a football match. The first incident involved a street seller in Barcelona being tipped into a fountain, while in the second, Mullen pulled down the trousers of a steward at Anfield before a match.

Today, he was banned from attending all football matches, and told to forfeit his passport when certain fixtures were played abroad, but the statement from Merseyside Police has drawn criticism online.

Some fans accused the force of ineptitude, while others claimed this was yet another attempt in the media to lay blame at the feet of Everton fans, despite none being involved.
