Everton midfielder James McCarthy has signed for Crystal Palace in a deal worth around £8m according to a report.
McCarthy has been linked with a move to Palace over the last few weeks and seems now to have sealed a move, although it is yet to be seen whether or not this is a precursor to Everton signing Wilfried Zaha from Palace.
The Republic of Ireland international signed for Everton from Wigan in 2013 when he followed manager Roberto Martinez to Goodison Park in a £13m deal.
He initially gained the love of Everton fans with his hard working grit and determination, but injuries and other issues affected his form.
He was then the victim of an unintentionally terrible challenge from Soloman Rondon in which he suffered a double leg break that kept him out of the first team for over a year.
Now, he finds himself down the pecking order at Goodison Park and his transfer will be seen by many as getting rid of the deadwood, although he still has plenty to offer a side like Palace.
