Everton boss Marco Silva says that Alex Iwobi will add quality to the side and that he had been a long term target over the summer, despite only coming to light late in the day.
Iwobi signed late on the deadline day from Arsenal amidst a flurry of social media and news channel activity for around 28m pounds which will – as is the case these days – also be subject to further performance related additions.
Silva said that he had watched Iwobi develop and Arsenal and feels he is a quality player who will add not just pace, but also strength to the front line at Everton.
“When you plan the window, our target is always to improve the squad and provide better solutions,” Silva said.
“In this moment our squad is deeper than last season. I am happy with what we have done.
“Alex [Iwobi] is a quality player. We had our targets – and he was one of our main targets.
“He can play wide and behind the striker, he gives us different solutions.
“He is a strong player, a fast player, and he can provide good intensity.
“He comes to our club to improve our squad and it is really important for me.”
