Everton might well be known for their ‘best of the rest’ tag and while many clubs have risen only to be beaten back by the top six, the Toffees are constant presence and are waiting to take their place back among the elite.
As one of the most stable and consistent teams among the competition, predictions are surfacing as to who will perform the best in terms of most goals scored this season, we looked at some InfoGol guides on who has the most predicted xG. Here are some potential players that show promise in terms of the club’s success.
Richarlison was the top scorer for Everton in 2018/19 and is currently the favourite to do so again this season as well. The Brazilian looks on excellent form from the early season games. He’s undoubtedly Everton’s most talented forward and remains a key to their success this season. It could even be argued that one of the biggest risks to him taking the top scorer’s crown is the possibility of him being poached by one of the big six in the January transfer window. But if Everton can hold on to the star player, he is sure to be the central cog in their success going forward.
Dominic Calvert-Lewin ticked off a lifelong ambition this summer when he was handed the No.9 shirt for Everton and his effort since securing that deal has not been in question. If you watch back any of Everton’s Premier League games this season, you’ll see the willingness and determination that this 22-year-old shows each and every time. He has ample opportunity to become one of the club’s top goal scorers too, but he will need to channel that grit and resolve into this area of the game more in order to achieve that. Calvert-Lewin has long been considered one of England’s top prospects and this season needs to be the one where he proves himself at a top level.
In Moise Kean, Everton have an elite-level finisher that remains a menace on the pitch. Last season, he emerged as one of the top young attacking talents in Europe in Serie A and now, he’s showing plenty of promise in terms of becoming the Toffees’ top goal scorers too. While he’s yet to score for the club, his previous experience has proven that he is more than capable of taking on the challenge and performing well in this area for Everton too.
Former Swansea midfielder Gylfi Sigurdsson is the leading Icelandic goal scorer in Premier League history and this season, he’s approaching games with more confidence and skills than ever before. The veteran midfielder is still a dependable scorer for Everton as his qualities continue to show – he has the magic touch when it comes to taking corners, free kicks and penalties, making him the perfect creative mix for the Toffees. Everton’s lack of an out-and-out goal scoring striker means that the players in the middle of the park will need to pick up the goal scoring stick more.
