Jean-Phillipe Gbamin

Gbamin heads to theatre as recovery put back

Everton midfielder Jean-Phillipe Gbamin will be out for at least a further three months after he underwent surgery on an injury sustained in August.

Gbamin – brought in to replace Idrissa Gana Gueye – had looked solid in his brief appearances at the start of the season, but broke down in training before the visit to Aston Villa.

Now the 24 year old has suffered a set back in his race to return to fitness after joining in light training sessions.

He underwent surgery on his quadricep muscle, a procedure which has a recovery time of around 3 months, meaning it will be close to February before Gbamin can consider himself ready for Premier League action.

With the Blues being outmuscled and over run in midfield since his injury, Marco Silva will be devastated to hear that he will be without Gbamin until next year.
