A small part of me had the thought that maybe we'd see Gordon on the left, Iwobi on the right, and James central in place of Gomes (or James right as he has been with Iwobi central). But toward the end of the Derby, we did have Iwobi right/James central.

Would be interesting. Both track back pretty well so would give us cover and allow James to focus more on the offensive side of the ball.

Clean sheet would be nice.

Think we need to be more solid at the back as eventually the goals won't be coming so freely you'd think.

I think we have to temper our expectations, and appreciate just how ridiculously important Richarlison is to how well we play.

Yes we have 4 CL level players (Richy, Digne, Allan, and James) so losing 1 is a big deal.

Luckily I'd say we at least have the most talent waiting behind him with Iwobi, Gordon, and Bernard. Drop off from Digne, James, and DCL is massive.

Why is everyone suggesting Iwobi over Gordon, I know who I'd have every time. I can't believe I'm going to say this but I'd seriously think about putting Sigurdsson in over Gomes, I thought the game passed by the Portugese Adonis at the weekend

I knownits hard to come on as a sub but it really passed sigurdsson by a lot more

As for the Gordon iwobi shout, I am not sure where I stand on it, iwobi has good cameos but it really feels like if he plays we have one real attacking option in DCL

However, there has to be a reason why Gordon isn't getting picked

I'd rather see Gordon but the latter hasn't played since Salford and Iwobi had a very good match against West Ham.

So, it'll be Iwobi.

Yeah, but he’s just different.

He’s constant, he’s relentless, he’s a fighter, he’s a nuisance, he’s a speedster, he’s a grafter, and he’s an ice cold bagger.

Gomes should start. He had a bad game against the best pressers in world football. This type of game suits him. Doesn’t deserve to be dropped. If he plays poorly in this game, yes maybe

Iwobi has been much better when he starts vs coming off the bench too. Wouldn’t be surprised to see Iwobi start and Gordon come in off the bench for the last 30 minutes

Iwobi has barely played off the left of a front three either, which is his best position. Now's his chance. He would definitely be my choice to start against Southampton.

I think Gordon is more fo a direct replacement than Iwobi and offers our attack more balance with this direct running but I think it'll be Iwobi who starts
