Tranmere Rovers
This match will be the 5th instalment of Tranmere's Pre-season schedule as they prepare for life in League Two following relegation last season. Everton's Matthew Pennington spent a large part of last season on loan at Prenton Park whilst Matthew Kennedy also enjoyed a brief spell there. Tranmere brought in 7 players over the summer, all of which have been free transfers including former Barnsley FA Cup hero Kayode Odejayi. Tranmere have allowed 9 players to leave the squad in the summer including former Everton player James Wallace who has gone to Sheffield United.

New Tranmere manager, Rob Edwards portraying the face of perpetual regret
Tranmere sacked former manager Ronnie Moore in April following allegations he had breached betting regulations. Rob Edwards was appointed manager in May and the Tranmere faithful have been promised vibrant, attacking football and also a focus on bringing through local youth prospects. This is Edward's first managerial job having left his post as assistant manager at Exeter City, the club he retired with in 2011. The aim for Tranmere's season will be Promotion back to League One.

Possible Line ups

It is unlikely that any Everton player who featured in the World Cup will appear in this game even though there are currently only 3 friendlies pencilled in. This means that Baines, Barkley, Jagielka, Mirallas and Howard are all unlikely to feature. Roberto Martinez took his Everton squad to Austria on Monday and the blues are set to return to Liverpool on Saturday ahead of this match.

Radzinski and Vellios share tales about their love of David Moyes, probably

Last season, Everton started Pre-season with a friendly game in Austria against Austria Wien as the blues slumped to a 2-1 defeat with Vellios (above, right) scoring the only Everton goal. Everton have been quiet in the transfer market so far with Gareth Barry the only signing following his loan last season. Apostolos Vellios has linked up with former Everton striker Tomasz Radzinski who is sporting director at Belgian club, Lierse SK after running out of contract at Goodison Park and Magaye Gueye is on trial at Millwall after having mutually terminated his contract with Everton.

Stats and Injuries
Everton will be without the internationals who played at the world cup whilst Bryan Oviedo isn't likely to return until September according to Roberto Martinez. Darron Gibson and Arouna Kone will also be doubts after long term injuries.

There have only been 4 competitive meetings between the teams and I'm sure many Everton fans will remember the most recent match.
