Allan from Napoli linked for about the 4th time. This one won’t go away.

At 29, not ideal, especially for the £40m being touted, but I think he’d improve bus immeasurably.

100% would be our best midfielder by a distance

Hardly even a compliment at the minute. Shelvey would look like Pirlo next to some of our current lot.

He'd be just the ticket. Hope he's en route!

I wouldn't read too much into the price. Moving forwards I think football is in for a rude awakening with fees and wages starting their slide back down towards levels they were before it got silly.

There can’t be many examples of way over-priced players transforming the teams they sign for and taking them to whatever their next step up was. Maybe Ronaldo and Juventus, but I can’t think of any others right now. Maybe clubs are recognising that and are going to be less willing to fork out so much with other options available.

Or, if City win their challenge to bin-off FFP, it’ll go bar-shit crazy again.

I think at this point any competent central midfielder improves us immeasurably.

Blast from the past
I knew that someday I was going to die, and I knew that before I died, two things would happen to me. That number one; I would regret my entire life, and number two; that I would want to live my life over again.
