I think hes got a good point but is taking his rational soccernomics schtick a bit too far.
It's just not an immediate priority, surely.

We need to sign a good left back. We need to sign a good centre back. We need to sign at least one good centre mid and possibly two.

It's not ideal to play some of these out wide. Some of them will almost certainly be off. But we've got Lookman, Walcott, Bolasie, Mirallas, Sandro, Sigurdsson, Vlasic and DCL who can all play out wide to some degree.

If we've got a limited amount to spend on fees/wages, we'll have much better success if we get players in the areas we're actually short.

Until they're shifted out the door though, it's a little wasteful to splash money there. And even then we'll have a full complement of at least competent players.

We've got one left back, who's 33 and increasingly injury prone.

We haven't got a single centre back we can all get behind as first choice next season.

The only competent midfield 3 we put out last season was Gueye, Davies (who people are already saying isn't good enough) and Rooney (who is out the door). Half this board wants Schneiderlin out the door. There are question marks about Klaassen. Baningime might be okay. Maybe Sigurdsson and Vlasic could play there. Oh and McCarthy with a broken leg.

We are much, much shorter on numbers and quality in those areas than out wide. Focus there instead.

Looks an exciting player so far in the first 30 minutes I've ever watched him play. Though could've and should've done better in the situations he found himself in

If he has a good tournament we'll be way down the queue for him. I'd rather we get a good CB and LB as a priority.

Absolutely no chance he's joining us - if there ever was, we should've sealed it before the World Cup.

Only way we're getting him is if a deal was agreed pre-tournament.
Jeff: That's not the way to win.
Kathie: Is there a way to win?
Jeff: There's a way to lose more slowly.

This was my worry. A deal would have been perfect pre world cup but I am not complaining like, not exactly a priority area.

Ive liked him for a while thougj admittedly hed be awesome here.

He's a finisher.  What we need.  Everybody was choking around him (shades of Peru yesterday)
