He'll eligible for state pension in a few months.

Reckon we should go for Rashford regardless, pace to burn and bags of potential. Not a direct replacement by any means but a quality player none the less. Suppose it depends if Twatan stays at Utd as to whether he leaves.

I don't really want to contemplate it as I'd rather delude myself we can go on an amazing end of season run and get CL football.

That said, it won't be a popular shout but someone like Giroud if Wenger leaves might be a decent addition...not a replacement as we'd need a couple of forwards for that in all likelihood but he'd be solid-ish while we transitioned.

Chelsea might offer us Batshuayi. He looked decent in the Euros, clearly he's getting no game time there though.

What a monumental challenge Walsh has on his hands here though to replace him.

Aguero.

If there was one name to make the loss of Lukaku an easier pill to swallow...

Never going to happen though. That's the calibre of player though we'd need though to replace the goals lost.

Shudder at the thought of Deeney...one season "wonder" and I think that is stretching it. For the amount of money they'd want too we'd spend half of what we'd get for Lukaku. He's also going to be 29 soon so we'd just be throwing the money away.

We wont be signing Deeny.

It really is a head scratcher thinking who will replace him.

But at the same time it is exciting too.

This is what Walsh was brought in for, it is up to him to identify the ideal candidate to replace Rom.

I'd like to see us sign two forwards with this money, King from Bournemouth being one of them. He's not a fancy foreign name but he's a very good player. Powerful and clinical.

Obviously we're losing a player of real quality, but clutching at straws for a few positives, we'll get a lot of money for him and it's one less giant ego in the dressing room.

Edit: and maybe Benteke.
