Robles 6 - thought he and Williams had a massive communication issue for their big chance. Aside from that he did fine

Baines 7 - looked brighter than he has in a good while, good defensively and a real threat going forward

Williams 6 - weird miscommunication with Robles aside he looked composed again particularly in the air

Jags 7 - the more solid of all the defence, he's not as done as everyone presumed. Interceptions and strength particularly good

Coleman 6 - he's been on a good run, thought he was relatively poor today forward and back though

Calvert Lewin 7 - playing as a left forward more than a left winger he looked bright and dangerous and took his goal very cooly.

Gueye 8 - thought he was on top form today, he was the reason Hull didn't really get a look in because he snapped in with challenges frequently MOTM

Davies 7 - bright and dangerous particularly first half. Interacting well with the whole of the midfield and forward line and kept the ball well

Schneiderlin 7 - was doing well until his unfortunate injury

Barkley 7 - efficient with the ball as usual nowadays, not quite as sharp as he has been for me but still involved in everything

Lukaku 8 - two goals and an assist but still didn't think he was that good for long periods. That's how much of a top striker he is though, you know he will score if he gets the opportunities

Subs

Barry 6 - started off the pace but grew into the game and improved.

Mori 6 - did ok and provided decent cover

Valencia 8 - a bright cameo with a composed finish. His general energy picked us up when the game looked like it was going to be a real struggle

I'd give Ross an 8, otherwise agree 100%,  Great job and write-up.

I'd go Barkley for MOTM today. The way he has played recently and especially today it's a lot more mature, maybe not quite as spectacular or eye catching of his best games in times gone by but he is constantly influencing the game. If he can just go that extra yard and start bringing the goals of last season back into game he is on the right path to becoming the player he could be.

Key things for him are keep working this hard, and if he has a few poorer performances don't let his head drop which has happened too often before. He needs to remember he is potentially and elite player and everyone has bad games.

I saw something before saying he has created more chances this season already than he has in any other PL season. And created about 40 more already this season than he did in 13/14 when he was great, it shows he is thinking more about how he can influence the teams performance in comparison to how can he do something spectacular to affect the game, which is a key shift in mindset.

Also jags was great, as he was after the initial few minutes last weekend. Not playing against teams really testing us granted but he has shown in these games he isn't completely finished like has been suggested and deserves to show where he still is in the next couple of harder games. He's been written about 5 times in his career for us, it would be great if he could give us something to think about whether he has a future for us next season in the remaining games as he's been great for us over the years.

There was one moment midway through the second half when Barkley burst into the area, but was muscled off the ball, ended up face down behind the byline. Two seconds later he was up and sprinting towards the defender who took the ball off him to make a tackle.

Been really impressed with Valencia the last couple of weeks. Important goals and an assist. works hard and shows some skill and vision. Maybe needs regular games not on the wing and suddenly looks much much better.

Might become a Walsh masterstroke this.
