Carl Jenkinson's move from Arsenal to Crystal Palace stalled when he discovered Jeffrey Schlupp's wages, Sky sources understand.

A deal for Jenkinson to move to Selhurst Park permanently looked close to completion when Palace agreed a fee with the Gunners, but Sam Allardyce revealed negotiations with the player's agent were holding up the deal.

It is understood talks with Jenkinson were held up when the defender found out Palace were paying another January signing, Schlupp, 56,000 a week, with Jenkinson having been offered 35,000 a week to move to the club.

1. what a greedy bastard
2. wtf has the world come to when Jeffrey Schlupp is being paid 56k a week?!

Is there a reason they're buying defenders who can't defend?
I'm more trusting of fellas when they have my cock in their mouth

Aussie Trent Sainsbury to Inter.

Didn't see that coming. No disrespect to Trent, he's a solid defender with a place close to my heart, but have Inter fallen away that much?

Funny middle name.
There are only two things I can't stand in this world. People who are intolerant of other people's cultures... and the Dutch.

Villa have surely taken a massive punt on at least getting into the play offs. 12m for Scott Hogan on top of what they've already spent last summer and in this window, if they don't come back up they could be in real trouble. I'm sure I heard somewhere their spending since relegation is in the region of 60m. Ross McCormack gone on loan to Forest after spending 12m on him.

I'd want 56k a week to play for Palace too!

Shows how quiet the January window is these days across the whole of Europe, 14m spent in La Liga.

It's Big Sam remember. They're buying defenders who can kick the ball a long way.

Sky sports are still trying to convince everyone that the transfer window was great, flogging a dead horse there
