Yes, might as well save it for when we get City away in the next round

No one should right DCL off after that last display, but that does not change the fact that Richarlison might be the better player in that position at the moment. Unless he is given the chance, we won't really have any clear idea. At some stage, perhaps sooner than later, he should be given that opportunity to show what he can do. Both players are still young and developing - and people mature at different rates. They are nowhere near their peak.

About Tosun - he has yet to prove that he can adapt and deliver the performances we need at this level. He could need more time, too. But, Richarlison could be very good as CF right now. His form has been very good in each game and he is improving and learning all the time. This is the hardest position to fill and he could be a sensation. It must be an option Silva is pondering.

You’re not even bloody wrong.

5 mins st the end of a nil nil when we’re creating loads of chances and the ball is pinging around the box - get that man on the pitch.

But if you start a game with a player like niasse, you basically lash your whole game plan out the window and shrug your shoulders.

Did we still have a sub left at Arsenal?

I think Sunday was our best performance of the season, and there was plenty to feel positive about.

Look at this defensive action map from twitter (I know, sorry) https://twitter.com/footballfactman/status/1044346938496364544?s=21

Despite not having 2 defensive midfielders on the pitch and having two box to box players with an AM in front we made the middle of the pitch really tough for them. Forcing them backwards or nicking it.

We closed down aggressively in their half and kept the pressure on them when they tried to shuttle it out wide.

We had relatively little to do in the really dangerous areas, and although they lashed all sorts at Kenny he nearly passed wih flying colours. He won’t face two like Auba and Lacca every week, thank god.

They won because they have bigger and better superstar attackers. That’s all. It won’t happen every week, and if we play like that again we get results.

Keep the faith lads, Everton are magic.

Would it matter?

Well yes. It suggests it talks of the development of young players but if it takes into account 30 year old seasoned internationals who’ve played in top leagues abroad then it’s actually just a really meaningless stat that says nothing

You spot on and I agree with that. It’s just how much value I see in currently starting DCL.

Is that stat perverted by older players coming into the league from abroad?

Would it matter?

Troy deeney was on five live before and touched on what it’s like working with silva.

He said he is a very good coach who always foucuses on getting on the front foot and playing high up the pitch, something we all already know to be fair.

On the defence he said he’s very meticulous and puts a lot of work into how he wants his teams to set up defensively but said he mostly works on one on one, two vs two situations and puts the emphasis on the defenders to deal with certain situations.

Had nothing but good words for him and this is from a player who was dropped by Silva.

People just need to be patient and have realistic expectations for this season. I'm happy to see a steady improvement and a visible attempt at going at the big boys. A cup would be nice. The real improvement will hopefully come next season
