It all ends today, so as long as everyone is okay with this being the thread. I'll attempt to update the OP as the day goes on with rumours, incomings, outgoings etc

Transfer window in UK closes at 11pm tonight.

Let's hope no one important leaves.

what's going on:
.
Oviedo signed
Kennedy fee agreed with Kilmarnock.
N'zonzi spotted in talks with Moyes.

Give me Oviedo, N'Zonzi, and maybe Johnny Russell to round out the team and call it good. Maybe Anichebe goes, freeing up a spot for a cheeky loan somehow, but not really necessary.

Loans out can be done after deadline day can't they, presuming there going lower league.

Think only one to look out for today could be Barkley to Celtic.

I'd loan out Barkley and Anichebe.

Bring in Holtby, N'Zonzi and I'd imagine the young Kilmarnock striker.

Overall I feel positive today.

BREAKING NEWS
Aston Villa have had a bid accepted for Fulham forward Clint Dempsey. The United States international, who is valued at about £7m, remains a target for Liverpool although swap-deals involving Charlie Adam and then Jordan Henderson collapsed yesterday leaving a proposed move to Anfield on hold.

That would be a massive step down for him. I think we should get in there and get him to Everton.

Well there is the rest of the budget gone then. Expect maybe a loan on top. From what we have seen in the press lately. It seems Moyes is also after a defensive midfielder. Ala NZonzi and Essien.

N'Zonzi will cost buttons.

I'm not at all convinced by him. And I'm pretty convinced he's not good enough to come into the side without significantly weakening the team but as squad cover for minor injuries it's not the worst of moves. Would have much preffered Essien!

hmm.

i'm actually quite excited about n'zonzi, he's similar to jack rodwell, big, rangy, very classy on the ball (at times). i honestly think if he comes here, he will come good in a big way.

22-årige Bryan Oviedo nåede at spille 46 kampe for F.C. København og score to mål.

done deal?

When we qualify for Europe next year we'll see the best of him again. Especially if we make it through to the leg-sapping group stages of the Europa.
He is immense against 'lesser' teams

I would love it if we could get Essien on loan. A midfield of Mirallas, Gibson, Essien, Fellaini and Pienaar would be orgasmic.

I'm quite keen on Butland, not just because of a comical name. But he looked superb when I've seen him, albeit only a handful of times. I know he made a error recently, but young keepers will, as do many old keepers.

But one thing that does worry me, is that we have a recent history of buying very good young English keepers, then watching them turn to shit.

The most bizare move of this window and possibly ever has to be Richard Wright to premier league champions. How the hell has that happened? I can only think its a move to give the players confidence on the training field when they keep smashing in goals past him.

Matterface on Talksport said Joe Cole turned down the chance to join us.

Dempsey agreed terms with Spurs, after RS offered Henderson plus cash. Considering they paid 20 mill for Henderson, and what they will sell Carroll for, the RS have clearly accepted they have seriously blown their tits in.

We really could do with one more!

Essien deal hit a snag to Real!!!!!!!!!!!!!

European football expert Andy Brassell: "A twist to the Michael Essien move to Real Madrid, with El Mundo Deportivo reporting that it's holding up another possible Chelsea leaver....young Spanish midfielder Oriol Romeu, who looked like heading off to Malaga for the season on loan despite being on the bench for the Super Cup defeat against Atletico Madrid tonight. With Madrid waiting on Essien as a Lassana Diarra replacement before letting him go to Anzhi, one wonders how this particular ball of wool will untangle....elsewhere in Spain, second tier Racing Santander have confirmed the loan signing of Rangers' Carlos Bocanegra."

I don't see how anyone cannot be pleased with this year's transfer window.

Four first team signing in the shape of Pienaar, Naismith, Mirallas and Oviedo. We kept hold of Baines, Fellaini and Jelavic and we only lost one 'major' first teamer in Rodwell.

Essien was a long shot in the end, and we may end up getting Odjidja-Ofoe on loan so all in all I'm pretty made up.

Someone posted how the transfers work. They've agreed a deal at 11pm and sent a deal sheet through to the FA and now have until 1am to send the completed paperwork.

Appeal on what grounds? They still had money to spend? He's declined a deal before te deadline he'd accept now?

See my post above.

As long as provisional paperwork is through by 11pm, a club can get a an extension until 1am to send the completed paperwork.

How far has it got to be down the line then?

Surely it's not just a case of agreeing the fee as other deals have gotten that far before and fallen through because of time.

The deal is completed except the club didn't have time to do all the paperwork, hence the deal sheet that was introduced a couple of years ago, which is a brief overview of the deal. The completed paperwork must then be in place by 1am or the deal is off.

Yes, but the deal sheet could also be written in a scribble of a two-year old provided that the player to be signed is a triffic little player.

doubt we'll see either for a couple of matches to be fair, Oviedo won't be stepping in for bainsey or pienaar for a while, especially with Gueye doing well on Wednesday

for Vadis, this seems a bit of a last minute deal so I would imagine they will want to put him through his paces at finch farm for a while first

luckily we have no immediate pressure to depend on them which is a good thing

I was thinking this. We have been after so many players that were good when Moyes wanted them and we couldn't afford them and they all became worldclass. Moutinho, Essien off the top of my head. What he saw in Felli that no one else did. Even those that loved him didn't think he would be the player he is now. The man is a genius and should be applauded

Competition everywhere except in goal now.Be amazing if we go back in for JB in Jan (Butland NOT Beckford)

Best squad weve had in ages and I dont know who I am excited about most.  Probably still George Green

Because its one of the funniest things to happen in this transfer window. Dempsey litterally pitched his tent outside Melwood for the last 2 weeks. I'd like to think Fulham told both him and the shite to get stuffed.

I agree.

It is also tempting some bad karma.

They could still play well until January and then splash the cash.

We could play well until January and then lose one or two of our star performers.

I just think we should be careful with our smugness.

It has a habit of biting you on the arse.

Strength in depth across almost every position now. Could do with loaning another striker in Jan to keep Jelavic on his toes, and I'd love to see us find a quality long-term right back (we've only needed one for 20 years...).

I'd concur:

GK: Howard, Mucha

LB: Baines, Oviedo, Distin
CB: Jags, Heitinga, Distin
RB: Hibbo, Neville, Coleman

DM: Gibson, Ofoe, Heitinga, Neville, Fellaini
CM: Fellaini, Osman, Ofoe, Pienaar
AM: Naismith, Fellaini, Mirallas, Osman, Pienaar
LM: Pienaar, Oviedo, Naismith, Gueye
RM: Mirallas, Naismith, Osman, Coleman

CF: Jelavic, Mirallas, Vellios, Anichebe

Only counted Vellios and Coleman out of the kids cause they seem to be the only ones who get regular time due to the weekness on the right and up front
