Cannot stand Burnley and their anti football, cannot stand "boyhood red" Dyche, his voice grates on me so much. To think there was a few on here who wanted him to manage us.
Hopefully unchanged for this again, last home game of the season so lets twat these all over the place.
-
Their last big effort of the season was to try and stop City winning the league.
Fancy a strong performance and good win for us here.
-
I quite like them 😑
-
I don't mind Burnley at all ,despite their 'anti football' which got them to 7th last season.
This season they've been hard to break down and no doubt will be as tight as a crabs arse on Friday. Hope we batter them like .
-
I like burnley myself. Enjoy watching them for the most part tbh.
-
I'm with @Macca77 (https://www.nsno.co.uk/forums/index.php?action=profile;u=1930) , can't stand Burnley and Dyche.
-
All for the Friday night games me.
Finish work early, get a decent scran, dale street for a few then head the game.
Lovely stuff
-
I dont like them, and Dyche's voice makes me want to cough. Boring as hell.
Hope we batter them.
-
Anyone know when we're gonna see images of next season's kit? Normally wear it for our last home game don't we? Be nice to be able to get my kids it before they go on holidays
-
I respected them when they came up, and got the most out of what they had.
However, they've been in the Prem a few years, and they're getting £100m plus every season, and still playing like a League Two team.
Sod that for a game of soldiers.
-

They said they werent doing that this season didnt they?
-
Fuckers almost activated The Darkest Timeline, thank fuck for those 2.9 centimeters.
Let's give them a proper battering.

I didn't mind them at all when they first came up. But their brand of football is closer to American football.
-
Says it all that the first sign of money last summer and they spent it on Ben Gibson and Joe Hart.
No interest in trying to be a progressive football side.
Fuck them.

You might have seen this already but the last paragraph is the only official thing that I could find thus far.

that maybe suggests theyre actually putting some thought into Evertons, were by far their biggest client these days, shouldn't just get some home shirt template that's the same as Hull & West Ham.
-
In fact if they've released an international shirt or a foreign teams shirt recently, it's likely itll have the same design
-
Like to see Davies involved in this one.
-
Didn't mind them when Keane was with them, few Irish players sprinkled around the team too but they've really got on my tits this season culminating in a massive bottle job at anfield when they went one up, fucking Heaton was terrible that day and they played like they didn't give a shit once the shite equalised
Course they were well up for the City game and then there was the whole rs supporting Ashley Barnes thing and Dyche being a boyhood red
Chris Wood and Sam Vokes always seem to score against us so they can fuck off too
They can fuck off with the Villa and West ham colours too, it will be a great day for football when they're relegated again
-

Don’t mind Burnley myself.
Glad we only play them twice a season and don’t really have to watch of them given how they set up but the league should be about diversity. There’s more than one way to play football with games like Sunday against City showing.
If it’d had been them playing the shite last Sunday in City’s position there’d have been a lot more hoping for a home win with a backs to the wall fight for your life performance. There’re not a massive difference between what Benitez does at Newcastle and Dyche does at Burnley and we’ll all be praying he pulls it off at the weekend.
-
Anyone know when we're gonna see images of next season's kit? Normally wear it for our last home game don't we? Be nice to be able to get my kids it before they go on holidays
To be honest I haven’t seen many PL clubs release next year’s kits yet.
-
Not really an awful lot to like or dislike about Burnley. A nothing team who have to work extremely hard just to keep the Status Quo. No real ambition to do anything in the league either. Dyche has done a good job of keeping them in the PL with the terrible squad they have.
Their work ethic and togetherness as a team is something to admire however, and it just shows how much can be achieved even if you don't have the skill.

.....................and did the double over us
They are a small town team with a proud history and no doubt happy to just stay in the PL..

I don’t like the Burnley accent, so let’s stuff them.

They will make this tough for us, and will no doubt be out for some revenge after we mauled them on boxing day. Be very surprised if we see any of the free flowing football like the last 3 homes games, partly down to the fact Burnley won't let us play that way.
Tight affair this.
-
Is this the game where we traditionally fail to unveil next season's new home kit, leaving us with 2 months of selling the old one from the bargain bins?
-
Yeh not really into bashing them just because they don't play expansive football to get pumped every week and sent back down to the championship where they'll probably never return from.
Dyche has a way of playing which isn't pretty but effective and it'll secure the long term future of the club under his tenure. Until he gets tempted by a West Ham or someone and both his and Burnley's fortunes will then head south.
Hope we dick them but as promoted clubs go in recent years they've been a success story.
-
Bournemouth play expansive football with Simon Francis and Steve Cook in defence, it's not a case of play shit football and stay up or play entertaining football and get relegated.
Before anyone goes on about Bournemouth having more money, most will agree they've spent it dismally anyway and Burnley signed Ben Gibson for £20m just to sit on their bench so there is money there.

That's because this is how Eddie Howe plays. Sean Dyche plays a different way but both of them have managed to promote two small clubs and established them in the Premier League, which is impressive. It's whatever works for you.
If Howe and Dyche tried to change and move towards how the other manages they'd probably not be as successful. 'If it ain't broke don't fix it' for the pair of them. Both deserve respect for the different jobs they have done and how they've gone about it.

....................Eddie Howe's style of play didn't seem to work so well at Burnley ,they didn't get anywhere near promotion if I recall correctly.

A fine viewpoint.
My point is that we shouldn't excuse (in my view) shit percentage football as an excuse that it's the only way for a team to stay in this league.
-
Defensive percentage football in itself isn't so much the issue with Burnley for me. It's when it's combined with excessive time wasting and shithousery that I think it becomes fair to be critical of it.
Obviously the Chelsea game stands out but they do it reasonably often. Reminds me a bit of Stoke, although definitely not up to their levels yet.
-
Football would be a very boring sport if everyone played the same style of football.
It's going that way already and you're having teams likes Huddersfield trying to play open, expansive football and failing massively.
Burnley have a way of playing and it works for them. I remember them scoring a brilliant team goal against us last season that involved nearly 30 passes so it isn't always defensive football.
I personally like to see teams play 4-4-2 and hitting it long to the big men.
-
Sold out again.
That means every home game for the last 3 seasons has been sold out, and with record season ticket renewals announced for next season its looks set to continue.

Hoping for another clean sheet tonight , IIRC Man City were the last away team to score at Goodison way back on the 6th of February .

I have just gone on the season ticket waiting list - goodness knows how long i will be on it for being in tier 2.
The fact remains that going to watch football is actually becoming one of the more affordable things to do for a family, so you would expect this trend to continue as long as the ticket freeze continues.

Friday night games at goodison;

We beat Spurs 3 nil that game. I remember it very well. Must be around 15 years ago now
-

Sure. Let's take a middle-priced season ticket for next year in the Gwladys St upper. Adult ticket costing £525, plus one child (I have a 7 year old) = £95. That's a total of £620 for 19 games, £32.50 per game for both of you for 19 whole afternoons/evenings of entertainment, 19 times a season.
That is not expensive by any means. If you look at the total cost in one payment, yes it is expensive. And yes, we can talk about the transport costs and food etc, but this would vary by whatever you plan to do on the weekends anyway.
I am sure we all have our own thoughts on what is expensive and what isn't, but the club have frozen ticket prices for the last few seasons, and there has been inflation in this time of 6.4%, so relatively season ticket prices have become cheaper to other goods/services.
-
We played Fulham on a Friday night a while ago, remember carsley scoring I think, think it was 3/4-0

So looking forward to this. I missed the Utd game as away for Easter and go away again tomorrow so this one is an unexpected bonus. Bank holiday weekend, last home game of the season, Friday night, under lights, siren, Holy Trinity statues, who could ask for anything more?

Dunno what to expect from us here and how much playing at home negates the issue against deep blocks.

Yeah I just expect a lot of crosses, but also opportunities for gylfi, Digne and Bernard to get on it in that space to the left and centre of their box which is usually a nice area for us.
Morgan deep shouldn't have much to do.

Gana is a superb midfielder. If he could shoot/score goald he'd be a world-beater.

He’s already a world class player. Be a massive loss if he goes in the summer

Amazing first 20 minutes but just been average since the second goal. Probably some complacency creeping in but would have been good to see a killer instinct to get the third goal by now

yay, no Peter Crouch

Lookman and Walcott have both been good here.
DCL, though, nah

Seriously we have to keep Lookman. The guy has got one ridiculous shot on him.

Lookman is a lovely footballer. Crying shame if he goes. No clue why he hasn’t kicked on yet

Don't want the season to end really, we've been great for a while now.
-
Lookman and Walcott have both been good here.
DCL, though, nah
I thought Walcott and Lookman have both shown why they're not starting. They've had the chances to put the game away, and done nothing. You can't imagine had Richarlison and Bernard had those same chances it would have finished 2-0. The game turned when Richarlison started feeling his ribs in the first half.
-
Good result and performance again
-
Lump in the throat seeing Jagielka for the last time

The both looked bright, enterprising, and full of effort. It’s great when your subs look that eager.
-
Pretty straight forward win as expected, Pickford had fuck all to do again

Bernard is great, but he is not a very good finisher. A little harsh on Lookman given he has played so little this season. Walcott at least got a solid run of games.
-
Schneiderlin is a conundrum because he is a good player
-

I don't disagree with that, but those qualities alone aren't enough. There has to be a level of reliability, clinicalness and decisiveness as well.

Lookman did some really clever things on the ball, and Walcott is still our only player that can consistently get in behind. Two qualities there that we need.
-
Schneiderlin is a conundrum because he is a good player
He's two players is the problem. He's a very good player, or he's a really bad player. When he's good like today and when he first joined you'd have him nailed onto start. When he goes like he did last season then you'd give him away for nothing.
Hopefully if we're changing the attitude of the crowd at goodison it'll take away some of the fear that bred last years downfall.
-
I’d really like us to keep Lookman - there’s a really good player in there

If only we had an attacker who could actually finish, DCL, Walcott and Lookman all missed fairly easy chances.
Schneiderlin is boss

Again, I won't disagree that those are things we need, but we also need at least one of the four chances they had between them to result in a goal.
-
Can we keep all these good players now though...

I think all of them mentioned are good squad players, but we need better if we want to improve. Lookman, although I'm still very much undecided, is probably the one of those listed that I think has the best chance of succeeding

We really need a finisher. DCL is everything we need but he really struggles with finishing. Lookman is a better finisher but struggles with the basics at times. It is something that needs to be sorted before we progress. Tonight should have been a 3/4-0 given the chances we had.
-
Silva is great here, saying all the right things
-
Positive words from Marco.
'Our work is done, the board know exactly what we need' can only be positive, I might be putting my head on the block, but expecting a pivotal summer.
-
Really want us to get ahold of Zouma. With that being said we really need a forward that can hold up play AND finish. DCL was really poor with the latter
-

Woah. Your head is well and truly on the block now.
If we don’t make some massive signings, I’m coming after you and your family.
-
Zouma is a must in the summer would love Gomes as well but we've shown we can perform at a high level without him.
-
Zouma needs to be here next season
-
Agreed on Zouma. Absolutely have to sign the guy.

I hope Everton can find a coaching position for Jags think he could be a good defence coach
-
Zouma and Gomez would be a great summer but would probably account for maybe 75 % of our transfer budget.
-
Again, I won't disagree that those are things we need, but we also need at least one of the four chances they had between them to result in a goal.
I’d much rather players get in the right positions, and/or do the right things to fashion chances, which they both did rather well. Things will definitely start to click for Lookman if he wants to stay, and Walcott has looked really bright from the bench in the closing stages of this season.
-
Blimey the PA system is loud. Enough of blaring out Elton John.
-
If we can only have one out of Zouma and Gomes then it's Zouma all day long for me
-
Was that last 3 mins Jags goodbye?
-
Hoping Brands has cheekily negotiated when getting both Zouma and Gomes last summer that they would become permanent signings the following summer.
-
Schneiderlin is playing well. It's good to see his confidence is back. As for shying out of tackles, that looks like a thing of the past. I'm made up for him.
-
If we can only have one out of Zouma and Gomes then it's Zouma all day long for me
Ah mate, thats a proper Sophie's choice situation right there.
-

Gomes for me.
Think you can get by at our level with organisation ironing out individual flaws.
Don’t get many midfielders who are big, strong and can move with the ball and pass with both feet.
Understand the vertical passing stats for Gomes but think he’s a top transitional midfielder beyond what we’d get.
Whereas I think athletic CBs are easier to find, or at least cheaper.

And we've got Mina to bring in after hopefully q full pre-season.

Good first half but fucking wasteful second half ....I must be getting greedy because despite the win im a bit gutted we never put them to the sword .

I'm still Zouma but you're not wrong re: his strengths.
I can't imagine Morgan being able to drive up the pitch and take 2 or 3 players out, and I think my heart says that Gomes is more progressive...even though I think Morgan actually has better creative stats this year, watching him today everything int he final third was sideways, where Gomes seems to hint that potentially he can let himself go a bit more.
Ultimately though I do think watching us tonight again we've not been noticeably worse (or much different) with Morgan instead of Gomes. In fact Morgan is much better defensively.
CB's at our level seem to me to be good on the ball like Holgate, Ake, Kongolo, but not great defensively, or physical units who can't kick a ball like Mawson, Sakho, Dunk.
Zouma is looking like a champions league level player again to me.
-
I thought Schneiderlin was man of the match. Impressive and no goals conceded since he came back into the side to protect our defence. A classic no ‘6’ performance that Silva would have been impressed with.

Yeah could argue that we’ve kept clean sheets with different CB combos too across last 11 games.

Will from The Inbetweeners was right
Burnley.....Burnley can fuck off.
Pretty sure a couple of their player's WAGs were in the away end though, as there is absolutely no way on earth these ladies were from Burnley, nor interested in anything outside their phones for most of the match, and didn't know the people they were sat with.
I enjoyed a little eye contact when they were denied a penalty in the second half, so guessing it was whoever thought they were fouled that she was the partner of.

Pic?

The reporter covering our game on the BBC, Tom Rostance is a right prick on the live text; little digs about Silva seeing the season through, and deriding us for dragging the players parade out
-
Schneiderlin MOTM for me
Certainly had a renaissance has Big Morg. He goes about his job effectively. I’d hate to see him leave if I’m honest. I never lost faith in his abilities
-

Silva spoke well of him in pre season and seemed to rate him, for whatever reason it went a bit pear shaped.
It's only my tuppence worth but I think his dad's death affected him a lot, he played against West Ham right after it but was subbed before half time, after that he was rarely seen for months. It's what's made his performances even more impressive to come in after so long out and look like he hasn't been away.
I've always liked him and there's plenty others I'd rather see off the wage bill before him.

Be interesting to see if Gomes comes in next week now his suspension is up. As much as I love AG and want him to stay, don’t think you can drop Morgan on current form
-
I'd also keep Zouma over Gomes.
-
It is now down to Brands ,when you think we could be without Zouma Gomes Richarlison Gueye Jags without a real stretch of imagination .We could very well be a different team next year but I think Marco is getting it sorted out and I have enjoyed the last few performances ,something I haven't felt in a good while .It says a lot for Kurt when so many would rather sign him than Gomes ,I too would love them both to stay ,given that Morgan Schneiderlin has played his socks off for the last few games and we haven't suffered but I think Gomes is a must .

Richarlison is going nowhere this summer
-
Gomez over Zouma for me. Midfielders are difficult to find and they run the game.
-
Made up to beat them in last game. My little lad was over the moon and robbed me blind in the club shop... But first game so fuck it. Poor in second half though. Zouma has to stay if possible. We deffo need a finisher despite DCL's progress.
-
I was one of Schneiderlins biggest critics ... (French surrender monkey I called him ) but I will gladly hold my hands up and say i don't want him to leave ,whatever was bothering him he's overcome it and we are seeing the player we bought way back ....long may it continue .
Also gotta say if we can only have one of Zoum and Gomes. ...Zouma has been way more consistent for me ...week in week out the guy gives it his all .
although in a perfect world we get both .
-
I'd also keep Zouma over Gomes.
Let's hope we keep both!
-
Morgan’s done well in the past few games. If he wants to fight - keep.
Decent bid for Zouma - like to keep. Not held to ransom.
Very decent bid for Gomes - push the boat out.
Invest a LOT of money into a top rated goal scorer.
Keep our first team.
Would prefer to keep Lookman - but accept any very large offers.
Sell/release 5 or 6 dead wooders.
Onwards and upwards, without changing this fighting spirited team too much. Huge push next year, right from the onset - no fucking around.

Does anyone know what Richarlison was doing for Coleman's goal? I watched it back and at no point is he even anywhere near onside, yet he pretends he is. :)
-
Not really arsed about Gomes. Flatters to deceive. Zouma is a genuinely good player though. I’d much rather keep him if possible
-

Would be nice to know if he can keep this standard up for a whole season. If he can it decreases our needs in the middle of the pitch.

when he's right, there's an absolute elegance about his play
-
I like Gomes. I absolutely LOVE Zouma.
Second best player this season, after only Digne.
Gueye is our player of the season. He’s criminally underrated by our fans. People on here were genuinely disappointed he wasn’t sold
He’s almost impossible to replace too because he’s doing the vast majority of a couple of others defensive work.
Think we’ll have a real problem if we try and play sigurdsson and Gomes without gueye next season
-
I love Gana, too. Just think Digne and Zouma have been a level above. Almost never a bad match, no holes in their games.
