.......................we've got Garbutt for that. Unfortunately he's not much cop at actual football.

Yeah, such a strange one how he's completely disappeared.

Surely that's not a transfer being agreed before the end of the season? That never happens.

Won't go down well in Malaga. They hate Sevilla.

We could do with someone who can score from a free kick.

Again, Sigurddson FFS.  Damned shame we allowed Swans to stay up.

Saying the Sevilla link has cooled.
If true, the low transfer fee seems to have created an environment where multiple clubs will just be putting offers on his table.
He'll take his time to review them all then make a decision.

Sounds like another potentially drawn out saga is coming.
Yes, we're being condescending. Yes, that means we're talking down to you.

I think most are nowadays.

Gone are the days where you were probably the only team to have scouted these guys. So the choices were a domestic option or move to England.
Pretty much every player has been comprehensively scouted by pretty much every club. So everyone is in for them at the same stage of their career.

We need to get a transfer policy that is not geared to waiting till 11.00 pm on the last day of the transfer window. That has been the norm for years, trying to shave a few 100k or a few million in some cases, off the price. There's nothing wrong with being frugal and financially practical, but in some cases, it get's in the way to the point that we fail to sign the player we're in for. Maybe that's what happened with Gabbiadini, who looks worth all of the 14 million Southampton paid for him.

It's a hard call though.

According to rumours, we value Pickford at £10m and Sunderland want £30m. Let's say we want to sign him, do we want him for £25m in July or £15m in mid-August?

That's without taking into account clauses/addons etc.

We were offering over £20m at the time but they didn't sanction the deal.

We tried very early last year, we were linked with Witsel in early June, for example and we offered daft sums for Sissoko.

Even in Jan where we prevaricated a bit we still pushed Schneiderlin through with 2 weeks to spare.

We haven't been quibbling like previously.
