We've beaten these more than they've beaten us. That's all you need to know.

Don't know why but had to a little research on 'yada yada yada' (sorry Blarg, I think that's the correct spelling).

Yes, there's the Seinfeld episode but more interesting is the connection with the 19th century Scottish 'yatter' or the Norwegian 'Jada Jada'.

Hmmm, there you go.

West Brom are shit and a team we should never worry about.

Game is sold out, pretty straight forward home win.

We'll concede a goal from a free kick or a corner.

We'll win though.

If we are up for this we will win. West Brom are going to come to Goodison fighting though, this is probably thier last realistic chance of getting into Europe this season. This will not be easy and we have to be on our game, if we are, we are the better side and we will beat them. If we are not this could be a long game.

Pulis will come with the intention of engineering a 0-0 here and we're probably going to need some piece of magic from Barkley or Lukaku to break them down.

The sooner we achieve that, the more open the game will be. Let's just hope the crowd stay patient even if we have to wait until the second half.

It was interesting that for the first time in ages we kicked towards the Gwladys Street in the 1st half against Bournemouth, and we all know how that started (and finished!).

I've never liked us doing that but it won't seem so bad if we score in the first minute.

Should be a professional win. Back to normal with Schneids, Gana and TD in midfield. Think Koeman might use the weekend as an excuse to go with Stek.

I'm struggling to see who the tooth is?

The molars or molar teeth are large, flat teeth at the back of the mouth. They are more developed in mammals. They are used primarily to grind food during chewing. The name molar derives from Latin, molaris dens, meaning "millstone tooth", from "mola", millstone and dens, tooth. Molars show a great deal of diversity in size and shape across mammal groups. A bastardisation of the Mola contained within the name Ademola . Irritating but there you go .

I'd go with jags but his lack of game time plus the sloth that is Williams might not be a great idea with these. Rondon is the danger, especially at corners. I hope we go back to the new holy trinity in midfield... Barry on the bench of needed. I'd give lÚokman a go here.. his pace might help unlock them?

I would like to see if Funes Mori remains as inconsistent/maddening next to a different partner.  Williams has been awful for months.

And even if he is, we can see if Holgate works at CB, so that maybe we try him next to Jags?

Amazing that our center backs have been horrible for months, yet we have the fourth best defence in the league.

Just think when we do buy a couple of top defenders.

Funes Mori's weaknesses are in his head not with his defensive partner.

If we can get back what we paid for him it'd be a result.

I think individually, Williams has been pretty shocking in particular the past several games.  But this is just me shooting the shit, I trust Koeman to sort it out.  As others note above, the overall defensive performance has certainly been more than adequate, whatever irritations we have with individual performances.

That's the only change I'm expecting Jim, Mirallas for Barry. Sod's law for me that I'm off this weekend but not going the game as I realised too late that we were at home and had booked a weekend priority ticket for the MCM Comic Con event taking place at the Exhibition Centre next to the Arena

I cant think of one centre back he's played next to that has done well consistently in that period with him? Stones had his worst spell of his career last season, Jags declined quickly from being reliable and Williams has looked inconsistent. Williams best game for us was away at Man City and he was playing next to Jags for instance.

For me I think its more likely Williams level would rise next to a reliable centre half partner than it is that Mori's would because he has looked the same rash unpredictable centre back next to Stones, Jags and Williams now.

So much relies on centre half pairing knowing what the other is going to do so they can plan and position where they are or go in case their partner loses it. With Mori you dont know if he is going to fly in and win a header, fly in too late and get pulled out of the picture, hold off deep or fly in and throw in a certain booking challenge. It's really hard if you are the other player to decide what position or shape you need to hold when you have little idea what he is doing in what situation.

I think we should buy 2 centre halves if we can this summer, but I'd be ok with Williams as next in line or if we can't get two and whatever else we need I'd rather us be putting the new player next to Williams than Mori.

The step up to the premier league hasn't looked a bridge too far for him, I like his injection of pace but he needs to polish up on his finishing

anyways I'll miss the first half, have an appointment with the dentist at tooth hurty

Of course, Stones has been shit at City, too.  Maybe Funes Mori just turns his partners into perma-shit?  In which case yeah, better keep Holgate on the bench.

Buying 2 CBs does make sense if the price is right, it's just too bad we never got much of a look at Holgate (in Cup play, maybe) to see if he could be a better 3rd choice option next season.

It would be if people were claiming Jagielka was too good to be left out.

Calling for him to get another chance because Williams and/or Funes Mori aren't up to standard is fine. Afterall, he's been a far better defender than either of them down the years.

Jags has been the worst of the bunch.

It's very revisionist to call for him to be recalled.

He had an awful run of 3-4 games, was dropped and hasn't been since.

Mori has been (not quite as, but still fucking) shite all season.

People are hoping that Jags form was just a bad spell, rather than indicating he's done. If Jags had been playing for 10-15 games this season and still giving away stupid penalties all the time, there would be less calls for his return.

I think people (me included) find it hard to say Jags is finished without having seen the evidence for ourselves.

We need to take the lead really. If They go 1-0 up they will just shut up shop and turn it into a horrible match

I'm a bit worried about their ability in the air. Gareth McAuley is the premier leagues top scorer with 46 goals in 27 games this season and they have all come from headers. Add to that Rondon, Evans and Dawson and they've got a few aerial beasts

I think it was intentional exaggeration for comic effect. Thought it was funny. I think McAuley's the top scoring defender in the big 5 leagues in Europe.

I wasn't expecting him to phase Barry back in tbh. I'll reserve judgement until I see how it works. It's fair enough to give Davies a little rest, as his level has dropped a little bit lately.

Seriously I don't remember seeing West Brom this season where McAuley hasn't powered a header in!

Then again I do see us as being one of the worst sides in the league at defending corners and free kicks but The stats probably don't back that up

Also some more odd Gareth McAuley trivia for you :oldest outfield player in the premier league

the options we have in midfield are absolutely wank worthy though aren't they? I know I'm probably easily pleased but to have about 5 or 6 to play in 2 or 3 positions. Can see the logic in Barry, he is much better on the ball, I doubt we will have to do as much pressing as they don't come out much, we will have a lot more of the ball and he can start attacks off with Schneiderlin and Davies giving the legs.

I'd have personally gone with Gueye though like. I'd have brought McCarthy in to rest Davies too

Barry brings some more strength in the air and he's probably more likely to open them up as they sit back. Can see why he's in.

Hopefully Jags is ready, been awhile since he played.

West Brom targeted Funes Mori a lot in our last meeting so Jagielka might be a response to that.

Not that Jags is strong enough or big enough to handle Rondon in the air (he isn't) but he's an upgrade in terms of positioning and should do a better job of keeping Rondon in front of him. Funes Mori isn't particularly good at staying goal side of his man on long diagonals and West Brom obviously love that pass.

Edit: Should have checked West Brom's line-up. No Rondon!

Probably to help us move the ball against a rigid defensive side that pretty much concedes possession.

Gueye has a lot strengths but incisive passing isn't one of them.

It's a good team performance so far, Davies is just being a nuisance and Coleman is having a lot of joy down the right side. Barry and Jags are playing well but I do think some of that is because West Brom haven't tried to do much, might be more of a test second half for them. Barry's passing in this sort of game when we have possession is boss though.

I think I'd rather see Holgate or Barry (even with no pace) there today.

Conversely he's not having as many outstanding games either. But I'm splitting hairs.

I think that's the issue now. He wasn't playing as well a few seasons ago but ended up with double figures in goals and assists and as much as his general play is better now he's in a vital area of the pitch which relies on him delivering some quantifiable output.

Very good win today, 3-0 is a very good result although I think we could have got another goal or two - I don't understand how West Brom are the 8th best team in the Premier League, I really don't!

We have now matched our points tally from the last two seasons with 10 games left to go - now that's progress!

I just hope Baines' injury is not serious, please let it not be too bad, Koeman has some homework for next time:

Properly managed now. We are a team.

What impressed me was that we were really humped by Spurs last week, even though the result was close, and (as far as I can tell) there were no rallying cries about how "we need to bounce back" or anything like that. It was just taken for granted by the team that everyone got over the Spurs game and we're ready to beat West Brom.

Best quote we heard today "the most boring 3-0 ever witnessed"
Sort of agree

Barkley was fucking brilliant again today, Mirallas was class, Lukaku had an ok game and his holding play is getting better, we just need someone to run off him now

Yeah Davies isn't the player for that, despite him putting in the graft. It's getting there

Imagine that team with £50m+ spent on it, which is what will happen in the summer once we get rid of the loan players and we loosen the purse strings.

Promising times.

EFC Statto‏ @EFC_Statto
Romelu Lukaku is the first EFC player to score 20+ goals in all competitions in 3 consecutive seasons since Bob Latchford (76/77-78/79).

For the greyhairs -

Rom Lukaku walks on water - tra-la-la-la-la    la-la   la   laaaaa!

Good result. Never really had to go up a gear though. Really surprised by how lacklustre West Brom were, I was expecting a fight but they offered next to nothing in that game.

At times, tactics and team choice negate the opposition.  Maybe that is Koeman getting  it right. We still have a way to go yet. We rolled wba over today,  "apparently"?  Never saw much of the game,  but he appears to have got it right today..

Have to admit I was bored witless in the second half. Koeman admitted he killed the game, and he killed the crowd as well. It was like being at a funeral. C'est la Vie that is the way it is. I wanted to go after a poor WBA and get 4 or 5. He brought on Gana to bolster the midfield. I would have left Mirallas on or brought on Lookman and hammered them. Never mind, a sound 3-0 win and away we go. Beat Hull and then hang on to your helmets in the following 2 games. We are making progress under Koeman. Ross was MOM for me.

I'm not saying he ruins them just highlighting I think he makes it hard for people to play next to him with how he defends. Jags is the best centre back stones has played with in his career, and his best spells were when he was next to him consistently.

On a side note good to see jags back and playing well today. Wasn't up against much but did everything asked of him, not what he was of course but hopefully plays next week.

..........the crowd were very quiet today ,the Street End tried to raise a few chants but you can tell only about 1/3 are singing . It's been like that a few weeks now. We only get going for the top 6 teams. People round me in MS3 are comatose and it isn't all old twats like me ,it's a good mixture of ages ,the young ones seem more interested in their phones than the game.
Anyway ,a good win , Barkley excellent again . COYB.

It's so nice to have tactical options and actually deploy them.  All credit to Ronald Koeman, for seeing the big picture even when we don't.

Rom and Barkley when on form and having complete, well-rounded games like today are a sight to behold.  Lock them up before season's end, and enjoy a golden era of progressive football.

We had to put one of our cats to sleep this morning, but we got to be with him when he passed, and one of my daughters remembered to bring in his favourite Everton blanket.  So glad when we got back and watched the DVR recording, the boys won for their biggest feline fan.  NSNO!

Agree with you , I've said to friends and relatives it was one of the most boring 3-0 wins I've witnessed , but on reflection this is a sign of our progress under the current regime. Koeman has the players performing with belief and confidence in the game Plan he sets out , and so do the fans , today confirmed we are the best of the rest , and we are closer to the standard of those above us than we are to the ones below .

What did you make of Williams today Rhys?

Did what he had to do comfortable afternoon but it's not really a game to be judging centre halves today given they werent agianst a forward and they hardly had any possession or threats in our half. Very surprised they didnt start with Rondon given how he can cause centre halves a lot of problems and showed that when he came on.

Scoreline didn't reflect game - Pulis  yeah ok

I actually feel quite sorry for West Brom fans, I have felt bored on a few occasions just watching them play against us. It seems as if in games like today when they concede then it's game over as their big plan is to try and park the bus and hope they can somehow nick a goal from a rare counterattack. Once Mirallas scored it seemed the game was over for them.

Was really surprised that Rondon and Brunt started on the bench as when they came on West Brom looked relatively better.

How this team is in 8th position is a mystery, I guess it shows the teams below the top 7 are a bit shite.

They're a good example of why sorting the basics out first and foremost is essential.

They're poor with the ball but yet they've had a good season (if we take out the fact that we've beaten them twice their results against everyone else must be pretty similar to ours) because they're hard to score against.
