Title: Everton V West Ham - Sunday Oct 30th 1.30pm
Post by: Jimmywhack on October 27, 2016, 02:14:21 PM
Was never that bothered by West Ham until a few years back, now they are quite high on my already bulging cunt list

Anyways, they are in a bit of decent form at the min and ours has been, well, indifferent to say the least. Live viewing on sky at a shitty 130 kick off time doesnt normally bring a bearpit atmosphere so lets hope that NSNO's Kendall appreciation works and gets the crowd up for it, or the team put on the type of performance that has us all out of our seats

Stekelenburg
Coleman Jagileka Williams Baines
Barry
Lennon Gueye Barkley Bolaisie
Lukaku

Lukaku has a pretty impressive record against these, surely worth a punt at first, last or anytime goalscorer too

This will be a very tough game, they have picked up a couple wins recently whilst the last month for us has been a bit shit.

Lukaku loves scoring in this fixture so I hope and pray he doesn't pick up a knock in training before Sunday. Otherwise, well...I believe Valencia will be ineligible against his parent club which leaves just Kone.

Lukaku has scored in the last 8 fixtures against these; a record run.

I'd be looking at someone else tbh, which might be a bit of a worry :(

Although surely at least one of Barkley, Mirallas or Deulofeu must start to do something soon.

I wouldn't hold your breath, they've shown no signs of it so far. In fact without Mori's threat from set pieces we now look more than ever like a one man team when it comes to troubling the scorers.

Was Baines attacking game any good before his injury?

He's come out and said Koeman has asked for him to be a lot more cautious.

Massively so, hence why he got double figures in assists without Pienaar a few seasons ago. Even if it's just in terms of taking players out with a pass into the forward's feet, he offers plenty from an attacking point of few.

Oviedo has done well defensively but being cautious shouldn't mean never do anything progressive.

It's kinda important we win this. Chelsea away next won't be at all easy. If we don't win this, we could very easily see ourselves winless in 7, and sliding into mid table nothingness. Need to get some momentum going, quick time.

To be fair against Burnley he made several decent runs / overlaps and the player with the ball just went themselves.

Barkley, Bolasie, Mirallas and Deulofeu will all look to do something themselves first and then for a runner, by which time the pass to the runner isn't on.

I think it's Oviedo's passing game that is much less progressive than Baines' and therefore less likely to make something happen without support from other players.

It's all about how that attacking midfield 3 perform for me

The goalkeeper, defence, defensive mids and striker have largely done their job well this season

Of that attacking midfield 3, only Bolasie is providing a regular threat. He himself frustrates but he keeps on trying things

Mirallas, Barkley and Deulofeu need to start contributing or I really think Lennon deserves a shot. You know at the very least you are getting a lot of pressing from him, and usually when he gets a run in the side he will score a few as well

I hate this phrase but... I could agree more.

In the first two thirds of the pitch we're very good. But in the final third there's no cohesion.

All of our attacking players are the kind to want to do it on their own. So many times we've been one pass away from playing someone in, but there's too many chew-the-balls. I dislike chew-the-balls.

Usually just go to the car park in Stanley Park. It's about £8 which is par for the course near the ground but unlike some of the smaller ones you don't get blocked in and it's 'fairly' easy to get out.

I'm not a big Funes Mori fan, but the manager needs to have the power to drop people, if they're bad. We had enough cronyism under Martinez, and it led to massive complacency and no competition for places.

(Although having said that Coleman is lucky to keep his place on recent form)

I'm starting to really dislike Mirallas on the left. He never stays on his side and when he does pick the ball up on the left, the defense knows that he wants to cut inside onto his right foot. He has no counter move and he doesn't seem willing to learn one.

I'd much rather see Mirallas right/Bolasie left or Deulofeu right/Bolasie left. Bolasie seems to be our only competent left winger.

Even Kev? I'm just not sure what Mirallas does anymore. He doesn't create chances, he doesn't score, he doesn't even get shots off. He just exists vguely on the left hand side of the pitch, and runs around a bit.

Hopefully our current trend of only performing for 45 minutes kicks in second half.

Who are the 3 teams you dislike the most in the Premier League APART from the shite?

These are one of mine and i'm not really sure why. They just annoy me.

I'd say Stoke and Palace are the other 2, don't really mind any of the top teams although i'm not too keen on Spurs

OT but Arsenal (top to bottom bunch of cunts) & Spurs are mine. Not got a third I dislike as much.

Played well in patches there, looked far more dangerous going forward than in last few games. Barkley played well, couple of his moments when he gets caught & doesn't pick the right options but worked hard all game and was brilliant second half. Deserves man of the match. Oviedo was also good, Lukaku was excellent too.

Once we sorted out our system. We were workmanlike and there were three or four attacking moves of high quality up front. After the first 15-20 minutes we played really solid. Oviedo is getting over his broken leg, Ross has had enough of the crowd whingeing, Barry is pure class and Bolasie caused problems. Seamus gave us much better width and attacking options, Lukaku had a game that his dad would be proud of, et al. Koeman showed his qualities with rotation; albeit some of it forced his hand for choices. I'm happy with that ;D

Reckon Barkley can push on now to bigger and better things. Stating the obvious but he really needed that performance for his own confidence, nice finish and probably should have had two but for some class keeping. There's such a wonderful player in there just bursting to be unleashed.

He looked more confident and I think maybe on that showing the new goalkeeping coach is getting him sorted out. One save from Noble he anticipated and was flying through the air before he'd even hit it. That's special. Being practical though, it wasn't just the block earlier on but the flying save later. A big improvement IMO.

not really

a fair few people having a go, but probably even numbers seeing it for what it was, a bit of fun and something to lighten the mood and create a bit of atmosphere

give it a day or so and Twitter will have forgotten and moved on to something else to fume about from behind their phones when in real life they stand by and say nothing.

A bit disappointed he didn't bring Niasse on when we scored the second.

From the stands? :D

In this day and age of terrorism paranoia and overbearing security it begs the question how do you get a loudhailer into GP @Bally (http://www.nsno.co.uk/forums/index.php?action=profile;u=19)

slow start.... Hammers could have easily had 2 before the break. They were the better team and looked very comfortable on the ball. Good reaction and pace out for the second half though. Took it to them very nicely. We need to start games better though. I don't know why it takes a goal - doesn't matter from which team - to get this team going.

Anyone else think Oviedo had his best game in a while?

Oh, and nice work @Bally (http://www.nsno.co.uk/forums/index.php?action=profile;u=19) . Way to get them going out there!!

I tell you what there are some proper moaning cunts on social media about you @Bally (http://www.nsno.co.uk/forums/index.php?action=profile;u=19). Obviously none of them have never been sat at the Arms Park with a full French band behind them for two hours

That was funny, but in general his chat was shit last night.

He answered the questions as if he'd never seen Everton or Barkley before which was weird as he's usually pretty good with his analysis.

Good on you Bally, it takes balls to do that, bigger balls than what I have. Don't be afraid to give it another go.

I would be intrigued to see how you would have got on at the back of the Gwladys St behind the goal, there's far more fans into singing there but it lacks that leadership possibly that could be a solution?

Gullit went 'full pundit' at one point. Zinedine Kilbane looked a bit bemused.

No one should go full pundit. Especially on MOTD2, Clive.

Agreed, it might also have something to do with the two penalties conceded at Man Shitty
