"By virtue of the format, lower-tier countries - the bottom 16 in the rankings - are now guaranteed one of the 24 qualifying slots for the European Championship finals. There will also be promotion and relegation between divisions."

There's hope for Scotland, first they need to get relegated to League D

They are in the slots that the qualifiers for tournaments would be, between September and November with 2 matchdays per month spread over a 5-6 day period. After the group stage for the Nations League ends in November, the qualifiers for Euro 2020 begins in March 2019 with a double matchday, this process continues in June then September to November. The two competitions overlap in June 2019 when the 4 group winning teams from League A meet in a knockout format to decide the Nations League title while everyone else is playing Euro qualifiers

Gotta say it looks much better than pointless friendlies.
Unsworth has a 100% League record at home
Norwich 3-0 15th May 2016
Watford 3-2 5th Nov 2017
West Ham 4-0 29th Nov 2017
To Be Continued.....

Maybe not so much "more internationals", more like "less meaningless friendliest". You could say it is the League Cup of internationals where bigger teams may use second strings but at the end of it all there is another route into a bigger competition.
