Here, let me pick those toys up from the floor for you.

You don't think an Ozil/Sanchez/Van Persie fee is daft for Barkley. You don't think he's light years behind what Rooney and Gerrard were doing?? The money being quoted for the lad is frankly ridiculas

Lets give him some space and time to develop, remember he has hardly played this season. The reason he is 'light years' behind Rooney and Gerrard is due to a really bad leg break as he was bursting onto the scene. Not only will that have physical repercussions, it will also hinder him mentally. We have seen flashes of his potential, the goal v newcastle and a similar run yesterday, the goal v city last season...

He seems to be a confidence player, and so, as Evertonians, lets get behind a talented home grown Evertonian and hope he becomes the super star we know is there. Moaning about him and begging him to be sold wont help his development, believe it or not im sure players can sense negativity on the pitch, some players take it on board and use it to improve (Naismith) some players heads drop (McGeady) I for one dont want to see Barkleys head drop because of a few knob heads in the stands.
I have to return some videotapes.

50m for someone who has played around 50 games and still a lot to prove is huge money and would be a massive call for the club to turn down, if someone would actually pay that. But there would be a massive risk for the club if he turned into a world star and we sold him because we weren't convinced, would be horrible to see another of our own become a great and not see them do anything for us.

And yes light years behind Rooney at this point in Rooneys career, if you look at it from an age perspective. Rooney had similar number of games and international caps when he was still 17 and was still very raw then. Maybe Barkley would have done too without the leg break when he was 16 and been a lot more consistent on the pitch now? And looking at it from another perspective, Barkley is light years ahead of where bale was when he was 20 and within 3 years he went for a world record fee.

Players develop differently, some very quickly whereas others take a bit more time. Just because Gerard was dominating games at 21 doesn't mean Barkley won't ever, it might be he needs 2 years to keep learning but even if he does he would still only be 22 with hundreds of games ahead of him.

Totally agree about the leg break and him needing time. 50m though!? Some saying they'd want a world record fee. He's done nothing to justify that talk and may never do. He's a good prospect but if we get offered world beater money for a good prospect then we should sell. I've no issue with the lad. He's just not worth anything like the fees being talked about

you need to think of the market too, and him being English, that bumps the price up, how much was henderson, downing, carrol?? He is going to be so much better than them, he is better now! It may seem ridiculous, but if Andy Carrol is bought for 35million, then 50 million for a potential English star isnt so crazy!

It is when Liverpool's valuations are the benchmark.
