Title: International Blues,
Post by: pjk on October 06, 2020, 06:38:53 PM
Should be interesting this time around. I'm more worried about any of them getting Covid. Fingers crossed, and good luck to them. :)

I want the Mosh to send his private jet to Peru on Tuesday to bring James and Mina straight back after the final whistle. He can then send it to Chile to pick Richarlison up on Wednesday, physio to be onboard, want them fit for Saturday noon.

I can’t believe they get a game. They’re on the level of Michael Ricketts getting a game back in the day.

Phillips is a fantastic player. Proper snobbery going on here just because he's not on your radar.

I'm just judging him on what I saw last night, he played 95% of his passes backwards, was grim to watch.

Even when he had space to turn and drive forward he'd just pop it backwards to a defender or at best sideways to Winks, but those sideways passes were even few and far between.

Think I saw him play one forward pass in the 60 odd minutes I watched.

I remember him playing a very good long diagonal in the first half but so many backwards passes after that.  Maybe just him and Winks together is an issue rather than Phillips being not good enough?

We have such a horrible selection of midfielders, when you think back to some we had in the Beckham days it's such a step down now to what we have on offer.

Saying that I thought Grielish had a decent enough game, but 5-3-2 can get in the bin, we don't have a good enough midfield and it felt such a negative setup
Title: Re: International Blues,

The midfield in Beckham’s day should have done much better than they did. No excuse for the likes of Gerard, Scholes, Lampard, Beckham etc not to have done well in at least one major competition.

An inferior team on paper got to the semis of the World Cup two years ago.

Shit management and trying to shoehorn them all in really screwed our chances back then.  All we needed was a manager to pick a team instead of the 11 best players and we'd have probably won something.

Summary of Brazil game. Weverton and Everton start, Everton off, Richarlison on, a different Everton on. 5 goals.

Coasting when Richy came on but he looked as fit as a terry butchers dog.

According to Google:

"The name Everton is a boy's name meaning "wild boar settlement". This geographical name, which belongs to an English Premier League football club, is popular in soccer-mad Brazil."

It also seems to have become very popular in Brazil in the 80's especially, so maybe it is to do with us?

Subbed after 74 minutes. Saw the game from 35 minutes in. James' got clattered once or twice, but nothing serious. Some of the defence splitting passes he plays, are off the scale in quality. Had a good game, as did Mina.:)

Yeah was awesome to watch him boss it, a lot of people in south america acting like he has always been quality but ive seen him be quiet for colombia the last couple of years, but maybe not match fit. So much control Mina didnt have to do much work, and James could go where he wanted linking up and playing like he has the game in slow motion. There was a foul where a Vennuezuelan player got book, he went to go through him but was way to slow for 0019, James jumped over the tackle and on his way down put his studs in the players back, his little bit of snide is the cherry on the cake.

He actually wins the ball back quite a bit, "which I was surprised about." Only the balls that haven't travelled too far from him, to have to run after. He's economical with his efforts to keep his energy for the little sprints; not to beat another player, but to dart into space. I don't think I've ever seen a player like him before. Lovely to watch.

Rodriguez played the full 90 as Colombia drew 2-2.

Richarlison scored and played the full 90 as Brazil came from behind to beat Peru 4-2 thanks to a Neymar hat trick. Richarlison had a hand in Peru going down to 10 men... 🤔 , and his goal may upset those of a red persuasion 😂

Mina sent off, James fine. colombia looked bad. James looked pretty good first half, but the whole team faded. Mina at fault for first goal, might appeal the red so maybe wont get suspended

International breaks are absolutely shit!  Even more so now, everything about them is just mind numbingly boring, the shitty friendlies/nations games, the words San Marino  on my score updates, England’s world beating youngsters, ITV, Wales’ PL/championship reserve XI, Gareth Southgate.

Honestly does anyone actually give a shit about them?  Though to be fair there’s more atmosphere in the crowds theses days.

On top of that I think we were 7-0-0 before the last fucker!

Bar Humbug!!!

I agree totally Ireland playing 3 games in ten days eight players gone already between Covid and injuries thus calling up players from the u21 team who are in with a chance of qualifying for the euros

We need the international breaks, it's the only time Sigurdsson looks like a footballer. If we manage to sell him to DC United or whoever in January,  it will be on his international form, not on anything he's done for us for the last couple of years.

I think you’re onto something there. In future all players on int’l friendlies should have a ‘For Sale’ sign on their back of their shirt and be given a number that reflects their transfer value.  nod

Cenk scored a second penalty in 2 games. Hopefully it boosts his confidence, if we need him

DCL barely got a touch.

Came on for the last 20. No heavy challenges.

Shame he didn't receive any service.

It couldn't be as bad as the Reds Next door. They haven't even got a back four to field  :woohoo:

Neither Keane nor Pickford at fault for the goals.
All 3 to return without injuries. That’s good.

They probably ask for special dispensation to acquire 4 new defenders between transfer windows or they will ask for the league games to be stopped until they have their players back  :wanker:

They still have to play Iceland in a dead rubber so probably DCL will start, Carlo needs to put a horses head in Siggy’s bed with a note saying “Touch DCL and you’re mincemeat “

They're always the victims. They now know how it feels. They've had so long with no injuries!

They don’t just have injuries like any other club, according to a report in one of the papers Van Dijk is injured because of a horror tackle by Pickford and Thiago is injured because of a petulant action by Richarlison (actually he’s isolating) since when were injuries reported like that ?

They won’t be happy unlessl Pickford & Richarlison appear in chains in front of a tribunal at den Haag.

4-1, James penalty. Just realised this pitch is at high altitude which won’t help with recovery for the weekend

Richarlison taken out by Cavani, and Cavani sent off. Our lad has been subbed because of the challenge.

Proper shitbag challenge but doesn’t look like much. Probably a bit of bruising on the calf.  Nice one to the manager for subbing him off though 👍🏻
