Big game this, to keep the chasing pack away. West Brom seem to have lost there way a boy recently. 2-0 Everton

Difficult game depending on who we have available, as usual a tight one that we should sneak

Moyes on injuries: "We're improving. Kevin Mirallas is not as bad as we thought and Darron Gibson isn't too far off."

David Moyes did concede that Seamus Coleman's injury could keep him out of action for around four weeks.

Shame about Coleman, mainly in that I think he's benefiting from the run in the team. It's been a decent season for him so far but very stop start.

At least it gives Moyes a place to put Neville though.

On the BBC just now:

FOOTBALL
Everton are set to be without Kevin Mirallas and Seamus Coleman for Wednesday's Premier League match against West Brom at Goodison Park.

Winger Mirallas again limped off with a hamstring problem during Saturday's FA Cup win over Bolton, his second attempted comeback from the injury he first suffered two months ago.

Full-back Coleman is expected to be out for at least another two weeks with a thigh injury while midfielder Darron Gibson has suffered a slight setback in his own recovery from a thigh problem.

I think Coleman has been awesome this year, he has been unfortunate to make a few defensive errors which have cost us points but in time will work his ass off and correct them.

He is such a big miss especially since Mirallas is out, without them we are completely impotent down that right side.

I would love to see a stat where you can see ---Coleman and Mirallas.... chances created per minutes played... in relation to the Pienaar-Baines combination, or even against the  Naismith(Anichebe)-Neville(Hibbert) combination

...along with this....

There are doubts over the fitness of West Brom quartet Marc-Antoine Fortune (hamstring), Claudio Yacob (shoulder), Shane Long and Steven Reid (both leg).

QPR target Peter Odemwingie will not feature for the Baggies.

Everytime I think we are heading into a game that will really kickstart our recent form it turns out to be more of the same.

This has got to be it? Hasn't it?

+++++ Thoughts. Fellaini will score first (for my prediction points) Jelavic will score (for his confidence), we will win, and we won't be all be pissy about subs until the end of the game!

Yes, this will be it. I'm SURE of it.

I hope.

Well it's a question to consider.

If he does play tonight that'll be 2 games where he's gone off early only to be ready for the next game (L'pool and Bolton).

However he also went off early in the S'land and Spurs games and was out for sizeable periods of time. Obviously he was injured in those games otherwise he wouldn't be out for weeks.

Also Moyes must ask him if he feels ready to play.

Are Coleman or Hibbert back for this one? If not then Neville must be at right back and not midfield, we need Jagielka and Distin in the middle because Lukaku would absolutely bully Heitinga.

I think

            Howard

Neville Jags Distin Baines

Osman Hitz Fellaini  Pienaar

             Anichebe

              Jelavic

I don't like Osman on the right (to be fair I doubt he likes playing there either) but tonight I think he'll have to take one for the team.

Hell, I'd honestly prefer a front two of Anichebe and Velios rather than Heitinga at centre back, Lukaku will demolish him.

Not sure if he likes Neville at RB these days for the league games.

I am worried about Heitinga in the middle though.

I suppose if Mirallas is on the right Neville might be exposed whereas Jags can be trusted pace wise to be left on his own.

Also I don't think that Neville should be labelled as a RB given the number of games that he's played in midfield.

Everton 1-0 West Brom
"That's typical of Leighton Baines this season - a wonderful strike. He set himself nicely and got a little bend on it, with such power. I recommended him to Everton when I was at Wigan. He was in the process of going to Sunderland at the time, so I'll take a little credit there. He's a top player."

Think the team is playing ok, nothing spectacular. Mirallas does look off the pace, but that's to be expected. But no one has really put a foot wrong. It's a workman like performance, and if we keep it up, should run out 2-0 winners.

Leighton Baines makes a darting move inside, he is found by fellow England man Leon Osman and the left-back smashes a shot into the roof of the net from 16 yards. Belter.

All Everton so far but not many chances created.

Good half overall. Took us a good 20 minutes to find out what was working but once we went back to Pienaar and Baines down the left we've been much, much better.

Another goal early in the second half will do nicely and allow Jelavic to come on and maybe bag himself a goal.

Getting greedy now, another couple of goals and a clean sheet would be very nice.

Decent if slightly slow first half. Baines, Vic, and Pienaar looked very good. Jags is struggling a bit on the right, Mirallas looking rusty and Neville just seems to be knocking around the park not doing very much. Generally very much a "getting the job done" game so far which is all that matters.

Spurs to lose and an Arsenal equaliser would be a very decent night for us. A bonus would be Chelsea dropping points as well, or maybe I'm being greedy now?

Playing well but 2-0 isn't sealed and delivered yet. People should get off Mirallis back. He hasn't put in a killer final ball but for someone out so long he is getting into very good positions

Pienaar has had himself a good half. Mirallas looks wasteful with the ball but to be fair to him he needs time to get his fitness back.

Tell me, is Anichebe atill considered a striker? Seems to me people are very happy to see him 'contribute' more, whatever that means, rather than score. Any chance any of our 'strikers' actually getting to double figures this year?

He won a penalty, thats plenty contribution. It's an assist.

He's a forward if you prefer. Baines aside he was by far our best player on the pitch. If you can't even see that, I wonder what you can.

On a similar point any chance Phil Neville can contribute anything as a midfielder, your lack of criticism of him astounds me, it shouldn't but it does

Without stating the obvious, Saturday's game is as big as ever with the chance to leapfrog Spurs, who are away to West Brom Sunday, and put distance between us and Arsenal/The Shite, who have Stoke at home Man City away respectively.

A hefty scoreline would help too.

Neville is not a midfielder  I can't understand why he was not played at RB tonight. Osman has no excuse. He was playing in his favourite position AGAIN and produced nothing AGAIN.

Plenty to be positive about after that - Mirallas and Gibson getting time on the pitch, Vic constant menace up front, Baines outstanding in attack, three more points, point off fourth etc etc. But clearly as highlighted by comments if we just got rid of half the first team squad we'd be well clear in the title race by now - Bill and Dave out!

You really are blind. I mean, not in a figurative way, have you had your eyesight checked recently? You should.

Aye, he struck the right balance between allowing play to flow and stamping his authority on the match. His use of playing the advantage was top notch too.

Just got in and watched the game, first, what the fuck is with hietinga???? And how many 'open' goals is osman going to miss?? He is class with feet but my fucking god he is shit in front of goal (apart from rare occasions) glad it didn't cost us again.

Pleased with the 3 points and other results going our way. Now get a new player or two in and ill be happy.

It's funny to remember the days when Baines would sit on the bench game after game, actually thinking he might have to move on, and watch Lescott run like a headless Neville up and down the wing, pinching the odd goal from a corner.

Game after game Moyes benched him for Lescott... :snigger:

The fucking meathead by me caused a massive argument. Referred to a female fan as  pissy knickers and said not too quietly that he would love to smash an elderly gents fat face. He's unbelievable, I had a rs mate with me tonight and everything, making us look like bad  blerts. Him an  his mates are loud, obnoxious, aggressive jerkheads.

Take a picture or video of him. I'm sure there are others around you who feel the same as you.

Great fun reading this thread post game. Missed the whole thing due to work, but judging by Football First had a great 1st half, bit of a tight second half.

Heitinga produced the WTF moment of the season so far for me, Baines can sleep with my wife if they both wish. Pienaar looking sharper than he has looked for a while. Selfless performance from Vic, another pro job done there Itchy Bear.  Great for Mirallas and Gibbo getting some game time, Osman believes he is playing Rugby, he didn't just miss, he hit 40 odd rows up! From 7 yards!

Bad day for transfers, great day for other results, greater day for our result. Overall.....great.
