Title: Injuries update
Post by: Macca77 on November 17, 2017, 05:51:28 PM
Sounds fairly positive

Quote
David Unsworth has given the following injury update:

"Ross [Barkley] is back in the gym.

"Seamus [Coleman] was away with Ireland and did some work over there and is progressing nicely.

"Yannick [Bolasie] has started training - he has had a couple of sessions with our U23 group

Can you imagine the difference when we have them 3 back in the team

Front line of Barkley, Rooney, Sigurdsson, Klaassen, Vlasic.

Too unbalanced, it's lacking a playmaker

All three bring direct powerful running which we need desperately. Ross probably doesn't do that enough but still at least brings it as a threat which almost none of our current players do.

Hopefully Bolasie and Coleman can get back to the same level they were at before within the next 2-3 months. It will take time though and no guarantees that either ever get there.

Seamus is the big one for me. The game after his injury, our whole attacking threat just seemed to disappear, and it's been that way since.

You would imagine Coleman being away with Ireland was merely for help and support for the team in a crucial game, not training.  Isn't Coleman their captain?

Three new players for Rooney to drop back and take the ball from.

Would love him to come on for the last 10 minutes in the derby and get a goal and assist to make it 2-1.  Niasse banging in the winner

I'd imagine Bolasie and Niasse could become quite an unpredictable partnership. Great to see him back.

With Pckfords distribution his return will give us the ability to counter attack really well

Idea: Something like Palace's narrow 4-4-2 from the weekend. Forwards have freedom to pull out wide to confuse the defense.

GK: Pickford
RB: Kenny
CB: Jagielka
CB: Keane or Williams (who the fuck knows)
LB: Baines
RM: Barkley or Vlasic (Barkley would be great in that Loftus-Cheek role)
CM: Davies or Baningime
CM: Rooney (looks dodgy but we need a passer in the middle)
LM: Sigurdsson
CF: Bolasie (especially if he has anything like his pre-injury pace)
CF: Niasse

I'd like is to be brave and go balls out one game, and actually try and play pass/move, attacking football without giving the ball away every 5 minutes and have a defensive discipline and intelligently flexible shape. :)

Pickford

Keane ---------- Jagielka
Kenny(SC) --------------------------------- Baines
Banger

Lookman(AL) -------- Sigurdsson(RB/WR/TD) --------- Vlasic(YB)

Niasse ---------- Sandro

Sorry, *wakes up* HOOF IT, LOSE POSSESSION, PASS BACK, HOOF. Ahhh thats better. NURSE!

So how badly injured were Baines and Keane yesterday for them to have to come off...I know we are fucked at present in our defence but this compounds the fuckedness if they are out for a while.

Keane's injury is a serious case of shithouseitus, there is no known cure

It can be cured with regular Dychebiotics, it would even cure the ailments that Jags appears to be suffering from.

Wouldn't surprise me if either of those two decide the injury is a bit worse than thought and that a spell on the sidelines might be very welcome.

Unfortunately this wouldn't work for Williams, his illness is terminal.

Given Baines played for years with severe pain and with injections before every game in his ankle to play for us when the recommendation was he needed an operation to avoid long term problems, which we look like we are seeing now, I dont think he is the type to fake an injury when we need people so he doesnt have to play.

What a fucking shame Baines and Jags careers here are going to fade out the same way Distin and Howard did.

Let down by lack of squad planning. Should have been phased out carefully and really, should have won something or played champs league.

Now they’ll be lumped in with the rest of these shitbags and even have their bottle questioned after decades of sweat.

I'm not disputing that but I wouldn't blame the lad if the thought of spending some time with the family on a weekend was more preferable than pulling on his boots to play in this shower at the moment.

Williams is a terminal case only euthanising. .will help .. make sure to get it all though or will grow again.

That's not questioning their integrity. As you can see from my further comment I wouldn't blame either of them if they decided to spend time with their family recovering properly than turning out through the pain barrier in this pile of shite we see.

Came across as you wouldn't be surprised if they exaggerated their injuries to avoid playing whilst we are shit.... which is clearly questioning their integrity. Anyway, if it was meant a different way fair do's

He is one of the shower . Been poor for 3 seasons . Forgotten how to cross turns back inside all the time and turns his back on crosses .

I’m not abusing Williams ;)

But point re Jags and Baines is that we know that they didn’t push for moves when offers were there (Arsenal and Utd respectively) and that they’ve played with injuries etc for years (Jags dragging himself through semi vs Utd; Baines with his ankle for ages) so it should be remembered when they’re having poor form that that’s all it probably is; not not being bothered.

I don't really understand why any of them are getting abuse. Most haven't been good enough this season but I think they are all trying.

Hiding your face anytime you concede a goal isn't going to help your cause though.

Especially when you're supposed to be one of the more experienced players in the squad.

Of the long term absentees, McCarthy and Bolassie might play before Christmas, maybe the game after Swansea. This would help in the 3rd round cup tie.  Coleman is probably mid to end of January.

Bolasie just got some game time for the u23's - he's going to be vital for the cup game, usually plays well at anfield and will push them back a few yards - id play him with DCL upfront personally in that
