Title: If you had to pick one to be our current manager...

I know, each option more delicious than the last.

Have to say, I know I set up the poll, but fuck me this is a difficult choice.

Surely we can all rule Martinez out on account of him being both inept and perhaps a lunatic. Moyes looks shot.
In the ideal world it would be unsworth but there's been some really dreadful performances under him as caretaker and it looks too soon
Koeman or allardyce. Personally I'd go allardyce on account of him might be able to not piss everyone off

Pre-2009 Moyes, but not after that.

Otherwise Allardyce. He's unquestionably best suited to our current structure with Walsh and, though I may not like it, I think he has more of a defined style/game plan than Koeman.

Sadly, Unsworth's slight naivety and lack of consistent plan ruled him out for me in the end.

Koeman before he turned into a bellend.

Koeman before he turned into a bellend.

I think that was kinda day 1. I know people loved the whole beating up on players in the press (ala Barkley) after the pandering era of Martinez but personally I think that's a no-no and one of the reasons a lot didn't warm to him. By all means say something isn't good enough when it isn't, or acknowledge a mistake but you don't need to single out players in the press when they really have to ability to reply, keep that stuff for behind closed doors. Plus if you want to sell them it doesn't do anything good to their value.

I don't recall support for a manager evaporating so quickly as it did under Koeman. I think his attitude with certain players and fans from the get go didn't help as there was little tolerance once the results went the wrong way.

The board couldn't see the wood for the trees - now an olive branch for Allardyce

I reluctantly went for Koeman ,the highest profile manager we'll ever get . But he was flawed ,couldn't seem to relate to the players or fans . Might have brought success eventually though.

Stop it.

I am being serious.

He finished higher than Koeman in his first year and never sunk to anything like the depths that Koeman did.

In fact, if we're going by league positions, Moyes shits on them all, but I preferred Martinez style of play.

Koeman, but only because he's the only big name on the list potentially able to attract name players.

But it's irrelevant now. I just hope Allardyce surprises us all.

Yeah, we should have let Norwich pump us at home before sacking him.

He took over a far more stable team than Koeman did as well and if we hadn't managed to get Lukaku (bearing in mind Kone was Martinez's hotshot striker) that season would have been totally different so lets not start trying to rewrite history with that one. Koeman took over a team that couldn't even play 45 minutes without being dead on their arse. It's not even a valid comparison.

If you're talking the actual current day version of each manager then it's Allardyce.

If you're talking how they performed for Everton then it's Moyes by an absolute mile.

Nah I mean today.

You know what would be interesting would be to see how fans of other clubs (whose views haven't been tainted by our experiences) would respond.

Presumably Koeman on reputation would come out on top.

In terms of potential and passion, it has to be Unsworth. It would be interesting to see how he'd get on in a settled team and under normal circumstances rather than the way he did which was very difficult for any manager, let alone a rookie.

Koeman for the name and what he could contribute long term. To think he'd still be our manager had he got the striker in he wanted.

In terms of conceding 9 goals in two games against mediocre (at best) opposition, it can't be Unsworth.

I wouldn't of wanted him to come back in though.

I think you'll find every manager has had games like that. Unsworth has been put in at the deep end. Taking over someone else's mess, trying to learn about his players when games have come thick and fast, trying to install his own philosophies on a team lacking in confidence, he was on a hiding to nothing. Most managers have better settling in periods. I think it's unfair to criticise too harshly.

It can't be Martinez, Moyes and no one is happy with Sam. Koeman is my first choice out of those names based on reputation, but we saw how that went. Unsworth is the only one who hasn't had the proper chance. In normal circumstances, I think he will make for a decent manager He needs to go out and get that experience.

Put most managers at the beginning of their careers into the same position Unsworth was put in, you'll probably see similar results. Compare apples to apples.

Think it's easy to forget just how shite Martinez really was you know.

See a lot of ''it was bad towards the end'' shouts on here when in reality we were largely terrible under him from the Palace game in 13/14 onwards.

Dread to think where would have finished under him without Lukaku.

Had 28 points after 28 games in 14/15.

That was panic stations after the Stoke away game.

Saved it with 5 wins out of next 6 when he actually realised you need to keep it tight.

Then forgot that and lost 3 out of last 4.

Allerdyce by default.

Martinez is an utter pile of shite.
Moyes stock has been in freefall since he left here.
Unsworth isn't up to it by a long shot.
Koeman was obviously the wrong man.

Moyes seems to have lost the behind-the-scenes nous that made us so stable when he was here. Tactics are not enough to prop him up.

Martinez didn't care enough about fitness or defensive organization and we weren't that good with the ball either. Plus, I have too many bad memories of him talking about how we played with a "real intensity" in matches where we were beaten to every 50-50 ball.

I can't work out what Koeman wanted us to do this season. We weren't organized off the ball and we had no plan with it. Also, he's a poor man manager.

I can't work out what Unsworth wanted us to do this season. We weren't organized off the ball and we had no plan with it. He's a good guy, though, and he has time to learn.

Allardyce could end up being the the best of the bunch (on current form) just based on knowing what he is and having a well-defined plan -- defensive organization, avoiding cheap turnovers, scoring goals off of individual quality and set pieces. We'll see.

1.Allardyce
2.Unsworth
3.Koeman
4.Martinez

5.Moyes

The last one is finished as a manager, he’s a broken man. West Ham have made a massive mistake appointing him. He will be sacked before the season is out with West Ham firmly in the shite

I do feel sorry for him a bit to be honest, apart from the personal riches he’s managed to get because of failure!someone in his family needs to have a word with him and recommend an early retirement cos all that is going to happen is he will become more insane. He should be playing golf and dining at fancy restaurants, stress free

For the record I don’t particularly rate any of them. Hopefully Unsworth will have a good future ahead of him. Obviously I Hope Sam ends our trophy drought as well
