Title: Everton v Crystal Palace
Post by: Ramjam on February 04, 2018, 05:40:14 AM
Ok it’s a week away but we need to move on from the shit we were subjected to yesterday.

With most of our first team regulars left out of the starting 11 at Arsenal I would fully expect at least six changes for this fixture. Rooney, siggy, Davies, jags, Coleman and Holgate, should all start.

                          Pickford
Coleman    Holgate     jags       Martina

Walcott       Davies     Rooney.  Siggy

                       Niasse   DCL

Let’s hope that doesn’t happen Raverdo, I fancy us to win this one with a fully rested squad and a week to prepare

I'd give Klassen a chance in the midfield for this one. Schneiderlin needs to go play with the U-23s so he can learn a few things from them.

Although I disagree with his selection yesterday I do think that he’d already written the points off and decided to leave so many of our starters on the bench, probably had one eye on all 3 points against Palace.

Which makes this whole situation even more laughable. He has been claiming he has deserved opportunities to manage big clubs. This game shows exactly why he shouldnt be. If he looks in the mirror he only has himself to blame

Devils advocate time,

But big clubs can beat other big clubs we have the worst record I’ve ever seen in some of these fixtures

He's be mad to think like that.. .we 've nothing to play for other than survival and  his job probably depends on the next few games. Can't just roll over in any game ffs.

That’s my point, only Evertonians think that Everton are a big club these days and that’s down to the incompetence from board level down.

Let's hope BFS and his team have a close look at the Palace v Newcastle game then actually come up with a game plan to win the fucking thing, this game now becomes the most important game of the season after the shite we've just watched, 3 points is a must, keep Bolasie, Schniderlin and Williams as far away from the starting 11 as possible

Don't know why I'm being pedantic here but they do on occasion. I mean Arsenal got thumped by practically the same amount (4-0) to Liverpool this season. Occasion would be the key word though, the difference is we do this sort of thing on the regular.

I mean even just this season. How many times have we capitulated so badly? Man United away, Arsenal both times, Spurs...it's just woeful.

I cant believe Sam .All this sports science shit -well at least his interpretation of it .He made six changes from a winning team ! We bought a left footed player because we had none and still played the right footed left back who was stopping every one of our attacks when we got forward - and plays the cart horse in the middle after two days training .He picks Schneiderlin and Keane game after game ,Schneiderlin has left the building and Keane needs help psychologically because he is a wreck -no bad feeling towards him ,he just shouldn't be getting picked .We play the weakest of the top six and drop our top scorer and most expensive player .He says we need more 26-30 year olds but every game he praises at least one of the young lads .How must JJK feel after Seamus played so well and not a word of praise from SA .I didn't want him or the little rat but tried to accept them for the good of the club ,now I fucking hate to even look at them .This is my club and has been for 67 yrs and this is the worst situation I can remember ,we have been worse and lower down the table but there does not seem to be any light at the end of the tunnel whilst this clown is here .I would like to know if the interest in Silva was real because he is there and available for less than the reported buy out

9 times we've been bummed since the season started

We've conceded 36 goals within that pile of Shiite

Sound average of 4 goals per game

Is right the Everton

We can't keep making 6 changes a game

I'm not having that he tested players cos he thought arsenal would snot us, the same arsenal who have been poor for a while

Be a huge test this, palace will be solid at the back and pacy up front

If we lose we are right back in the mix, something I think we will be Hearing a lot of before the season ends

There's been a few thrashing by big clubs on other big clubs this season.

Particularly where Arsenal, SPurs and the shite are concerned. Some 3 and 4 goal scorelines throughout the season. The shite lost 5-0 to City as well.

I don't ever remember a season like this where we've been thrashed so much. Yesterday was our eight thrashing of the season.

We are far more composed with Rooney and Sigurdsson on the pitch and Davies offers the energy and bottle Schneiderlin wishes he had . Keane and Williams have had enough chances and Jags and Mangala ( can't be as bad twice LOL) . If Coleman isn't fit its Kenny and I think Niasse is posing more of a threat with a few games under his belt .

Pickford ( I am assured he is boss )
Coleman/Kenny , Jagielka , Mangala ( puts head in hands ) , Martina ( bangs head on desk )
Walcott , Rooney , Gana , Sigurdsson , Davies ,
Niasse .

Tosun , Kenny/Coleman , Keane , DCL , Bolasie ( tries not to bang head on desk again ) .

Either way I feel Woy will have too much tactical nouse for Fathead . Sunday fume !!!!!!!

Based on how results are going and the rationale behind Sams  arsenal line-up I think we'll go:

                 Pickford

Coleman Jags Mang Martina (😉)

Walcott Gueye Rooney Bolasie

                      Sig

                    Niasse

This is purely based on how Newcastle have set up, if it works for them then we might as well do it!!!

I like that a lot. It's the right shape, with a good mix of experienced and developing players.

Only worry might be that we need an "organizer" in the middle of the defense but Keane and Holgate need minutes, especially over the likes of Williams, who isn't good and definitely isn't getting better.

I'm going to be mean (even though I'm sure plenty won't see it that way given his unpopularity) and say that Williams doesn't deserve another minute on the pitch unless injuries and/or suspensions deplete our centre back options. We gain nothing from playing him at this point, especially given how poor his form has been.

Jags, Mangala, Holgate, and Keane are enough. Especially with the latter two likely to improve with game time.

..........................I doubt he's had any money worries since being sacked by Newcastle 10 seasons ago and walked away with a reputed £6m.
from The Guardian January 2008  -
<<  Allardyce's position had been in jeopardy even before the start of the season, as the club's new owner, Mike Ashley, was rumoured to be keen on replacing him immediately. Ashley had not been involved with Newcastle when previous chairman Freddy Shepherd enticed Allardyce from Bolton last May. The manager was, however, entrusted with substantial transfer funds during the summer and began the season positively, winning 3-1 at his old stomping ground in Bolton.

Performances soon dipped, however, and doubts were raised not just about the quality of his signings, but also about Allardyce's style, with fans nonplussed by a strange lack of cohesion in the team and the manager's insistence on playing players such as Alan Smith in unaccustomed roles. The pressure intensified over Christmas, when Newcastle took just one point from four games - and that at home to rock-bottom Derby, who, back in September, recorded their first and so far only win of the season by deservedly beating Newcastle 1-0 at Pride Park.
Allardyce took charge of just 24 games, winning eight, losing 10 and drawing six. >>

I'd give Klassen a chance in the midfield for this one. Schneiderlin needs to go play with the U-23s so he can learn a few things from them.

Along with the Lookman loan/comments his comments about Klaasen not going to Napoli sum up his ignorance. A Top Serie A side want a player he will not play instead of a completely average Frenchman.

Wouldn't hold your breath for that, or in fact anything different, if we get to 40 points

Zaha out on Saturday

That's a shame. I like watching him play these days, one of the few players in the league worth watching. Weird how we paid £30m for a winger from Palace and they've still got one better than us.

Haha!

Obviously I would not take anyone off if they are having a good game, but two young players I want to see more of are Vlasic and DCL.

I reckon if Sigurdsson was not here Vlasic would be one of my first names on the team sheet and I want to see DCL continue his development too.

Also my other option would be to sub Rooney and move SSigurdsson into the middle to accommodate Vlasic. I think he'll be great for us one day.

                                   Pickford

Coleman            Jags            Mangala         Martina

Walcott       Davies            Sigurdsson            Bolasie

I'm not totally sure what the team should be but there are a few golden rules

Obvs Pickford in goal

If Coleman is fit then he starts at right back

It HAS to be a back 4

The only midfield that has worked for us this season is Davies Rooney Gana - so stick with that

No Schneiderlin, would prefer not even on the bench

Sigurdsson and Walcott both to start

Walcott to only come off if injured

DCL to start, Niasse on the bench. If we are losing at half time then play them up top together

Just scooting through the news...Palace have lost just three of their last 16 matches in all competitions and only four points now separate the two sides in the Premier League.

The Toffees meanwhile have won just one of their last nine games in all competitions.
Wilfried Zaha will find out how long he will spend on the sidelines with his knee injury after tests this week.

Hodgson will be without, Martin Kelly (hamstring), Jeff Schlupp, Julian Speroni and Scott Dann (all knee), Connor Wickham, Bakary Sako, Ruben Loftus-Cheek and Jason Puncheon are out.

Facing an injury crisis Hodgson may decide to give January signing Erdan Rakip his Premier League debut.

The midfielder of Turkish origin on loan from Benfica scored in his first start for the U-23 side and was widely praised for his display.

Rakip has however, yet to even make the match-day squad for Palace in the league this season.

If we lose this after they have that many injurys we are well n truely fucked

Don't know he seems to have realised Davies-Gana-Rooney is our best midfield.

Only reason we saw Schneiderlin come in at Arsenal is because Rooney is ancient and Allardyce didn't think we could win the game.

'Apologies are required all round from Everton as they attempt to put breathing space between themselves and Roy Hodgson’s injury-hit team. Sam Allardyce owes one to Hodgson having not contacted his England predecessor personally in the 17 months since being caught mocking his speech. Everton’s players also need to atone for their apology of a performance, and latest in a series of capitulations, at Arsenal last weekend. Palace are missing nine senior players through injury and Goodison Park will be short on forgiveness should Everton fail to capitalise on their good fortune.' Andy Hunter

Has anyone noticed how Holgate has been frozen out since the Firmino incident?

I reckon he's either been sold out or he has had a strop due to lack of support from management.

Edit: My bad, he played the next two games, but hasn't featured for one minute in the last two.

I also noticed how Rodriguez is getting charged with racism towards Bong, and in the same paper this morning there was an article bigging up Firmino's character.

Bit worried they’ve decided he’s blagged, the club know and nobody knows how to handle it.

Could see it coming though, would prefer holgate but fact is we have to build the back four around Keane and start building for next year.

In theory Mangala gives left foot balance or whatever plus more athleticism.

As long as brain farts are down to an absolute minimum, think it will be fine.

All these suggestions of two up front just won't happen these days unless you are a side that can guarantee 70% possession, or you are a team desperately seeking a goal or two with 20 minutes to go, or you have entered a timewarp and are back in the 90's.

Ironically Williams and Holgate have statistically been our best back two this season.

That would be more to do with how tight we played generally during that period, how deep we defended, and Holgate's bit of pace and good distribution, rather than Williams being great.

No, forum post's won't be trusted. But info can be leaked back to opponents privately from trusted sources. It's an advantage to know how your opponent intends to play. Know your enemy. That's why spies exist. Anyone who thinks it doesn't matter should think again. We might lose the match with this defence as it is, but that's not the point.

This isn't bad this. If we had a genuine left back to offer some balance we'd be on the way to having a decent side again. Still, it's better than we've seen past few weeks anyway.

Title: Re: Everton v Crystal Palace

What did he say?

“It's not me who wins the fans over. The players do it for me because they go out and perform and get results. That is what I need them to do and that gives us all breathing space that we need at the moment.”

“I am not saying my job is on the line, but if you carry on losing football matches all our jobs are on the line if you are not expected to lose many. That is the name of the game,” he explained.

“We won against Leicester and they all said how well we had played and what a great job we were doing. Then we go and lose to Arsenal and we are all crap and rubbish.

“That is what happens when you get a society that promotes people ringing up and expressing their opinion. But the vast majority of fans wont be like that. The ones who are volatile will ring in the most.

“You know that the internet... you say look at that negativity but it is 15 fans arguing among themselves and some of them haven't even been to the game. Negativity happens when you lose 5-1. Criticism happens and you accept it.”

“I have talked about the contract length meaning nothing because the results mean everything for how long you stay,” Allardyce continued.

“How long did Ronald have? Four or five years and it ended up being 18 months. Frank De Boer went to Palace after me, I had a one-and-a-half-year contract but he had a three-year contract and lasted four months.

“So my contract is as long as we go forward together and achieve results together, moving into the new stadium together, hopefully with a great team. I hope I see that time, but for the moment it's only the next game and the end of the season I'm focusing on.”

Was great being back at Goodison.  Gueye MOTM for me, as he was everywhere and won a few important fouls to settle things.

The Schneiderlin booing was terrible.  Yes, we all wanted Tosun on but don't boo someone coming on when you're 3-0 up.

Had no idea what the penalty was for from how far away we were.

Can people accept that Niasse is actually rather good now, please.

Nah. I'll stretch to 'effective on his best day', but not good or anything like that.

That any criticism of him is just 15 or so lads on the internet arguing amongst themselves, most of whom don't even go the game. Or something like that.

That proves he's @Django (https://www.nsno.co.uk/forums/index.php?action=profile;u=4371) then. He comes on here and sees the criticism and to get some favour, leaks the team a few days before.

Think it did him or the team any good?

I can understand people bring frustrated with the sub and his form but did it help him or the team in any way?

That's looking at things rationally. Mob mentality doesn't work like that though, we're not just talking like one fan has expressed his or her opinion.

He does something and people go... "Yeah but he didn't mean it"

Don’t think he’s scored or assisted a goal were there’s not been people having a pop at him saying it was down to luck one way or the other.

Very similar to people’s reaction last season to Robles.

Even so, his link up play is massively improving.

Rooney or Davies has that touch for the first goal and people are raving about it.

I’ll be honest I’ve never rated him but to boo him on is a another level of madness. I’m glad he’s out the team and we look a lot more fluid and dynamic in the middle without him but it’s done no good long term that.

Nah. I'll stretch to 'effective on his best day', but not good or anything like that.

If we're comparing him to players who play for better teams than us then you wouldn't say he was good. For a mid table side he probably averages a goal or assist more or less every other game, which by any metric is pretty good.

I get what you're saying but at some stage the lad does deserve some credit. He doesn't get cut enough slack because he's unorthodox.

Need to improve away.

Three out of next four are away and then City and L’pool at home.

If we only get 1 or 2 points from the away games the next 6 could see a low return.

If we had a manager with a little nous about him he'd take him out the firing line totally for a bit to attempt to diffuse the situation. I fear Sam's arrogance would lead him to make it worse in an attempt to show the fans he knows more about football than them.

But he does also have days when he looks like he's never seen a football before. He's done pretty well overall, and given his all. Got no issue with him personally or his application. Just think Everton should have better than him up front, I suppose. And I'm saying it after he's had a good game, not just after he's had a bad game, like a lot of people seem to.

But I take your point.

If we get 4 Home wins and 2 aways I think we’ll be 7th.

For me niasse scores goals. The rest of his game, in a one man forward role, leaves a lot to be desired.
He works very hard and that is always a good thing but at times you just want him to hold it in for us

He does also at times do some very good flicks, he's one of the bizarrest players Ive ever seen tbh

I have a feeling that Sam wants to get us as close to 40 points then we'll start seeing tosun and klassen. Not saying it's right, I just think that's what's going to happen. We beat Watford in 2 weeks and get to 37 points i would be willing to bet we see them both in some fashion the next week.

Just saw plenty of people complaining but no one actually acknowledging that it was also enforced.

how  did we score 3 goals? we where rubbish in the first half.. well we was ok, didnt really create any chances in the box., Niasse and Siggy played well... reallycouldnt believe 5 mins into the second half we had 2 goals! wooopeee!

dont get the MS sub, surely Cenk or DCL or someone else who hadnt had much game time, should have got on the pitch..

not sure why Holgate didnt feature.. Mangala seems very dodgy, dodgier than Funes Mori.. Williams wen he came on was back to his clumsy self.. the attack where we cleared a few headers, Williams had h is hand up that entire move, not even moving towards the ball or reacting.. fucking clear the ball, appeal when its fucking clear..

after the match i was pretty happy..MArtina does havea left food  :D  when i heard Sams interview just pissed me off.. his original interviews when he joined where spot on, but over time he ignores whats actually happening making an alternate version of events..

which makes him phenomenal.
