Title: Following the Southampton model
Post by: Robber Rodwell on February 11, 2018, 11:15:17 PM
Just sitting here watching the Liverpool Southampton game.  Southampton are playing brilliantly, the crowd is really getting behind their team.  Look great in possession and all of the team are working as a unit and really putting in a shift.  The market value of their players equals 235 million euros.

https://www.transfermarkt.com/fc-southampton/marktwertanalyse/verein/180

Our current market value relating to transfers equals 343 million euros in regards to transfer values etc.
https://www.transfermarkt.com/jumplist/marktwertanalyse/verein/29

We usually look disjointed like a team of individuals playing with each-other.  The current speculation surrounding the players (Michael Keane etc) is causing harm.  The players confidence is shot and their performances are suffering.  I feel with a realistic period of gelling between the players.  A real manager who can inspire togetherness and football playing tactics (Not big crooked smug Sam).  We can actually achieve something of note.  Steve Walsh should also be replaced immediately.  I was always excited about the chance of being taken over by a Billionaire and the possibilities that it could bring to Everton.

Unfortunately it has turned into a real shit show and we are becoming the clowns at the circus.

Of course Southampton go down 2-nil as I am typing this  :Horse: :Horse:

I saw this and thought OK, maybe this is an article about the effective way Southampton's owners run the club, or the quality of their scouting system which has unearthed so many quality players, or something else that perhaps I hadn't appreciated about them.

But no, it's a suggestion that we try emulate the performances on the pitch of a team that are probably getting relegated. Because they're "really putting in a shift".

Up there with the most absurd openings to a thread I've ever seen on here.

Can't wait for these to go down.

A couple of top 8 finishes and this lot couldn't wait to tell people they were a 'big club'

Back where you belong lads.

They were on track for the Champions League - and then we poached Koeman

We were on track for the Champions League - had a bad summer and then sacked Koeman

Southampton should follow the Everton model, if they ignore this season and the couple before.

We should be buying some of their players if they go down. Bertrand would be ideal.

Have a set style of play, lose players, replace players, make money whilst improving (this year aside) not much wrong with that tbh

How the fuck did they stuff us 4-1, shows how bad we were back then and to be fair we aren’t that much better, we fluked a couple of results or we’d have been right in the mix along with them.

This thread is easily shot down, but the point still stands. If they'd have kept half of their star players that they'd brought through or bought for cheap, then they'd be a lot higher up the league. They're doing a lot of things right initially.
