Title: Burnley V Everton. 12.30 Saturday.
Post by: pjk on February 26, 2018, 07:36:26 PM
Burnley are beatable at the moment, but so where a lot of the teams we've played recently. Allardyce's tactics are pathetic and I can't see us going for a win here. 12.30 early kick off, so write it in your diaries.:)

In America, the big NBC "spotlight dance" of the week, two weeks running.  I can't decide whether this is crueler to Evertonians, or people trying to market the Premier League in general.

Will be a routine 2-0 loss this.

Whoever hasent scored in forever will get the goal.

We will have a 15 minute period where we have a shot on target which Sam will refer too.

Already cant be arsed.

No

There's no point in risking long term injury to them in this shit storm of a season
Title: Re: under present circumstances would you....
Post by: formerKHL on February 27, 2018, 06:19:56 PM
get what your saying and why....

however we're still 6 points off the "magical" 40...but basically 3 wins from "absolute safety".....

the way we've been "defending" (says that with a chuckle) has been abysmal to say the least....

i'd prefer to have them there and take the risk...than not and take the gamble we'll pull through..

36 points maybe 37 is all that will be needed to survive.

We have a less than 1% chance of going down so I'm not sure risking further injury to players who are still getting back to fitness makes sense.

I know 7th is still up for grabs but no sense in having these players injure themselves further for that remote chance.

If they were available, then yes for Baines and Coleman.

But theyíre not.

Obviously in favour of playing our best team based on whoís fit.

Not sure what this thread is meant to be debating.

We really shouldnít be gambling on long term injured payers fitness to try and get a result at Burnley, especially considering their home form is at best patchy and theyíve not won in something like 12 games home or away.

BURNLEY PREPARE FOR EVERTON CLASH

Weather in the Burnley area has been extremely challenging over the last 72 hours.

However, the folks over at Turf Moor have been hard at work preparing the stadium, inside and out, as they make every effort to ensure Saturday's game against Everton goes ahead.

Let's hope they are successful as the game will be shown live on Sky Sports Premier League, so for those of you not up for braving the cold you can watch from the comfort of your home.

I reckon this is a great opportunity to pick up an away win here. Burnley are really just a tight, compact team with little flair and are on an awful run at the minute, which seems weird seeing as they're sitting in 7th but they don't have half the quality we do if we play to a decent level. With Baines and Coleman back to offer some width and a midfield three of Gana, Rooney and Davies don't see why we can't get 3 points here.

I'm going for a 0-2 away win.

I can't bare a shite stream and I can't be arsed looking at a website to see how we are getting on as I genuinely couldn't give a fuck whether we win or lose under Allardyce . There is a part of me that hopes a defeat would see the back of him and a part that doesn't like us losing . In short I don't really know whether I give a fuck or not . Even a draw would give the fat headed cunt an opportunity to spout about halting the losing away run against one of the teams above us .

From the BBC "Who will go down from the PL":

EVERTON

Consecutive seasons in the Premier League: 26 (top flight since 1954-55); Highest Premier League finish: 4th (2004-05)

Who have they got left to play?

Burnley (a), Brighton (h), Stoke (a), Manchester City (h), Liverpool (h), Swansea (a), Newcastle (h), Huddersfield (a), Southampton (h), West Ham (a)

Top scorer: Wayne Rooney (10)

Managers this season: Ronald Koeman (eight points from nine games), David Unsworth (caretaker, seven points from five games), Sam Allardyce (19 points from 14 games).

What do they need to reach 37 points?

One more win should be enough for Everton to stay up - and in their current form that's probably just as well. Sam Allardyce has won once away from home since taking charge and the Toffees were dreadful in losing at Watford last weekend.

Why are they in trouble?

They sold striker Romelu Lukaku to Manchester United for £75m and never really replaced him. Their recruitment drive looks muddled at best, with more than £175m being spent and some players already looking like misfits.

Davy Klaassen, Cenk Tosun and Sandro Ramirez have started eight league games between them without scoring. Allardyce has steadied the ship to a certain extent but is he the man for the long term?

Why are they staying up?

A seven-match unbeaten run either side of Christmas put any real relegation fears to bed at Everton. They have failed to reach 50 points only three times in the past 15 seasons - can they manage that?

Predicted finish: 9th with 48 points.

Not a bad team but the centre backs are our shittest pairing. .by miles goes on about Cenk not showing and Williams has been constantly shite but still gets in ? .

And hope Rooney has worked on his five yard passes (to teammates not the opposition)this week...only Scnieds passing is worse at the min .

Dunno, mate; Martinaís got a couple of assists recently, and at least heís getting up there.

I can remember Baines getting in an advanced position only once or twice in the last couple of years.

Exactly, 4-4-2 is obsolete unless you are a team that has 80% possession.

Shame no Vlasic on the bench again, and a real shame that Williams continues to play.

Really hope Coleman comes out unscathed and smelling of roses (shamrocks)

4-4-2 for Allardyce is essentially 4 defenders to smash it long and 4 midfielders to try and slow it down when it comes back

Ive been wanting 4-4-2 since when koeman was here, playing DCL all that time at the beginning of the season on his own was criminal and to carry it on with naisse and then with tosun i think is fucking dumb..I didnt think we'd win today but that line up gives us a slight possibility,,old sams arse must be feeling a bit twitchy

a real shame that Williams continues to play.

I'm more disappointed that Martina is still playing left-back (an area where every team in recent games has targeted us because it is a weak spot).

And on the same note, no Garbutt on the bench and where is Baines? It is now going on 3+ months since his injury and no sign.

Even looking at all the poor individual performances, Allardyce picks the team.

And it's another game where we conceded a lot of chances, had no control, and didn't put much pressure on them at all.

At least we did create some chances although mostly through errors from their defence.

Pickford's made 3 outstanding saves today that should have been goals, he's made one mistake. He's got a terrible defence in front of him and the defence has only gueye giving them any chance of getting the ball back in midfield.
He's made 3 saves a 30m keeper should make. Game after game he makes errors and costs us goals. Him and keane at 60m is a joke.

They've got to be the worst pairing in the league and we've paid £40m for the pair, it's a farcical situation to be in.

Yet we find ways of losing against a team on a 54 game losing streak.

Look, yes between the Brighton and Newcastle home games we should have enough to get enough points. Itís more about the bigger point that we are bad enough to go down on this form, with this defence. I donít know how people watch a weekend of PL fixtures week after week and not see us as one of the worst performing sides in the league. You can argue we may have players who could be coached to be performing a lot better but thatís almost beside the point. I honestly can't imagine handing money over for this level of "entertainment" an entire squad barely any of us like forming a team that doesn't work playing shit losing football
It's an absolute chore to watch this in the warm for nowt and it has been for years.

Iím sure Pochettino could get a fairly good tune out of that ⬇️

                          Pickford
         Coleman Holgate Keane Baines
                     Gana Sigurdsson
                 Walcott Davies Vlasic
                            Tosun

Robles, Kenny, Jagielka, Baningime, Rooney, Niasse, Calvert-Lewin

I have my doubts that many of them are very good. Baines finished. Keanes shite. Holgates 1 of our young player myths as is Davies. Walcott and Sigurdsson are okay.

Obviously we should be better but for me we've built an entire squad of overpaid and not really good enough.

How many very good individual performances have we had this season. Possibly just Rooney against West Ham. Our player of the year will be who's been competent most

Quote
Everton manager Sam Allardyce on MOTD: "We lost it by not scoring the second goal when we had clear, clear opportunities. At least three in the first half.

"Burnley hadn't won in 11 and if we went 2-0 up it would have been hugely difficult for them.

"We gifted them a goal which lifted the spirits around the ground. And I always dislike conceding from a corner, it could be avoided.

"That's five away defeats on the trot. It's simply not good enough.

"Ashley Williams getting sent off sums our day up. It shouldn't happen, he's swung his arm and he's an experienced player.

"I feel worse than the fans - they won't believe this - but it's my responsibility. I go home and say to myself 'how do I put this right?' For me to see the players under perform in the second half is very disappointing for me. It's my problem to sort it out."

People won't agree but I think it's odd that allardyce is the 1 getting all the blame and it's odd that people think our problems will disappear when he's gone

It's all just shit. What's the point of a DOF when he isn't allowed to do the whole job. Walsh is probably the wrong 1 too. Allardyce is probably the wrong manager but the players are shite as well. So we sack them and let moshiri who appears to be an idiot at least in footballing terms pick new 1s then the roles aren't properly assigned. Then all the squad needs fucking off and starting again. It's all just shite

We probably have 1 person in Coleman who's both universally loved and has a future with us. We have no heroes. Really don't see how it gets much better

That wasnít my point.

All of them are better than they are showing, and itís unsurprising given the last two managerial appointments.

Pochettino would have them fit, organised, motivated, confident, and challenging Arsenal for 6th.

Keane looks passive and shot of confidence.

He looked totally different at Burnley.

Coleman, Walcott, Sigurdsson, and Gana are really good players, and Pickford, Holgate, Vlasic, Tosun, Lookman and Davies would flourishe under a decent manager.

Frustrating as fuck yet again.

Not bad first half and when we scored we looked better with a bit of confidence.

But we came out second half and weren't at it properly and gave them the momentum. From the equaliser onwards the loss looked inevitable.

And as per, the defence is still a shambles and was bound to crack given the pressure we allowed them to build up.

first half wasnt bad,.. Walcott should have atleast got one goal.. but still.. winning means more Allardyce..

a few observations from the game.

Was Wayne Rooney Really Morgan Schneiderlin in disguise? he was so fucking negative, passing sideways and backwards.. so many times.. he was the closest player to the goal keeper (when we had the ball in the centre of the pitch.. he kept taking it off the Cbs and running in between them.. then passing back.. :s)

the boo's for Bolassie!  Siggy played well.. wtf is Allardyce on?  Yannick looks very very slow now... doesnt seem to be interested in going in for challenges or tracking back..

How long will Martina stay at left back and thus nullify the entire left hand side attack(and defense?)
Keane and Williams together do not work at all. totally destroyed by Barnes and Woods..

Davies for  Niasse, with Siggy going into Davies position, would have been better for us.. 2 up top with Dcl on the left wing..

DCL, playing out of position just makes Evertonians think that he's shit and not bothered...

Shocking match really..

Well done to Burnley tho.. 1 win in 54 from behind... i'm sure every Evertonian thought it was going to happen.

i'll leave you with the happiest couple at everton

Ok we are were we are. So obviously we have to look for someone to blame and obviously the focus is on our Management Team. Unfortunately Moshiri has made a bad call and with hindsight we Ďacceptedí that after the Southampton game we were a mess. Now we are in the situation we roll over against the likes of West Brom, Bournemouth, Watford, Burnley etc...with the likes of Stoke, Huddersfield, Brighton, Southampton, Newcastle and West Ham to come... I/we? have no confidence re these so called Ďexpectedí wins. I believe that we have good enough Players at our Football Club to improve but unfortunately this Management Team I have no faith in. The atmosphere is going or is toxic with him in charge. I would get rid tomorrow but I think we will have to bare with it. The only optimism I have is that he will be gone but the affect this will have on any talent we have I fear will be lasting in that at the moment there is no leadership or strategy going forwards. I can only hope that Moshiri will bin off all including Walsh and if he wants to continue with this model of DoF? whatever that is in this country? that he gets in a new Management Team that can be more ruthless and do that have the emotion or attachment that I have because with all the money in the World we are clearly failing on a grand scale at the mo.

Lennon has torn better "left backs" to shreds though hasn't he.
I thought Martina done OK in all honesty.

The middle of the defence was shite yesterday, Coleman looked like he shouldn't be back yet, you could see his overlaps were nowhere near as rapid as they normally are. 8 or 9 times we were caught out with the ball down the channel and they were playing for that exact move.

Lennon has torn better "left backs" to shreds though hasn't he.

Probably said more about the way we have handle Lennon, Vlasic and Lookman - but then again we had DCL to play on the wing  ???

Martina has looked half-decent lately ,which shows how crap the rest of them are. Keane was like Bambi on ice and Williams was being Williams.

Keane had a good game against Leicester but had Jags keeping him right Like Ben Mee did at Burnley.

Donít get me wrong, Iím not saying Martina was rubbish or shite, I just wouldnít have classed his game as good. Heís not the one picking himself at left back and heís doing the best he can given his limitations, but I can guarantee Lennon was licking his lips when he saw the matchup.

No doubt, but I thought he done OK all things considered.
