He did play well against the Kenyans. It's hardly premier league level though. I do think he deserves to start ahead of Theo. Walcott has been coming up consistently short with his many and numerous chances. I would think It's time for a change and a rest, for Theo.

If he keeps putting in decent performances when he is called upon, his chance will come. He's been looking quite decent off the bench in recent weeks, so he just needs to keep plugging away now and force Walcott to up his game if he wants to play every week.

He said always nine times in six sentences there.

Thatís almost as weird as me deciding to count them.

Andy Johnson once said "like" over 60 times in 3 minutes in an interview.

Probably wasn't even his record either, like.

He looks sharp when he comes on. Theo has been frustrating on occasion. Iíd start him against Chelsea.

More of a like for like replacement for Walcott but I could see Bernard getting dropped before him. Either way itís good to see a change in attitude and re-focused on getting back into our side rather than RB Leipzig. Well done, Silva.

We've got three wide men for two positions, there is a pretty good chance all of them will be spending some time on the bench over the course of the season. He'll get his chance, soon I imagine. It's up to him to then take it.

Lookman did well against Gor  I don't see a problem in him pushing Wallcot out if his position or pushing him to improve .....it's win win for us .

Its brilliant that we have PROPER depth now, pushing our first teamers into performing as best they can or being taken off. Add Henry Onyekuru soon too, and we will have amazing competition now with half a dozen proper pacey and capable wide forwards.

Beat just having Mirallas and no Plan B :)

Slowly but surely, we're getting there...

If you watch old Jagielka interviews he says, or more less starts every sentence with "Yeah deffinitely".

Not quite as bad as Rooney with his "erms"

Pleased that his attitude has improved markedly, pleased that we didn't sell him as many wanted to, and think it's a vindication of Silva's desire to keep him and his man management.

I just think Walcott is only going to get worse, while Lookman has Richarlison level potential.

We’re not going to win the league this year are we? So why not put your player who might improve in over your player who is only going one way?

Plus he’s more exciting, and the more he plays the more expensive he gets.

Because a run of bad results puts pressure on the manager and that pressure is very rarely relieved and becomes a death spiral.
Every position higher up the table generates huge amounts of cash. Not just in prize money, but in the subsequent increased optioned games the following season.
Combined with our management hopefully planning to sneak into the Europa League spots then every single point and goal is vital.

And they clearly think, over the 70+ minutes a start tends to get you, that Walcott is more likely to create an opportunity.

I do think he probably needs to see some bench time. But not for Lookmans sake, but so that he refocuses and gets back to his best. (Which, at this moment in time, is more reliable than Lookmans)

Heíd be starting now if he didnít phone it in pre season and start the campaign off the pace.

Heís been playing catch up ever since and for me still hasnít done anything to warrant a starting place.

Very strongly disagree on everything other than getting Europa (which is important, if not vital, from a revenue POV).

Weíve finished everywhere from 7th to 11th over the last couple of years. Yes heís under pressure because this is the premier league but I donít see it being s big issue this year tbh. I think the common concensus is that itís a building year? Is there a big difference between 7th and 11th? Nah. Not really. Not beyond our enjoyment and the general feel around the club. Mid table is mid table, nobody would be surprised and nobody would be shocked.

What is important is giving players with potential to either make something happen here or be sold for healthy profit time on the pitch to develop.

Theo Walcott is WASHED. If you believe otherwise then you are a big Steve Walsh Sam Allardyce head.
