Just checked my profile. How have I been here for 10 years?!

Also, many congrats. Here's to another 15! (and a couple of league trophies, and a few FA & European cups)

Probably longer if you were on the old version of the forum? Think it changed over in 2009.

On this forum, the longest anyone has been here is 10 years (in December) but have a feeling people like @Dr. Sponge (https://www.nsno.co.uk/forums/index.php?action=profile;u=86) and @Fynci (https://www.nsno.co.uk/forums/index.php?action=profile;u=412) etc have been around longer (essentially if you've been here 10 years, you've been here longer!)

Drunkenly agreed to drive one around. Had no recollection of this until si text to see if I was still ok for it.

I came here around a decade ago, I was a member of another Everton forum for a few years prior and it was pretty hostile to be honest (moderators included!). So I seeked out somewhere else to talk Everton and I ended up here after some lurking before registering. Not looked back.

Remember first getting on this site in 2007 when looking for a way to connect with other Blues which was hard to do in the US then.

Went to Blue Kipper first for about 30 seconds then found this site and never looked anywhere else. Great work on the site lads!

Here's to another 15 years.

Title: Re: NSNO is 15
Post by: Smithers on June 27, 2019, 03:11:11 AM
Hi all, long time listener, first time ringing in.

Speaking of weirdos...I've been lurking since we signed Louis Saha! Yes been reading this forum for a long time now. Blue Kipper always made me cringe, and although I enjoyed the long reads on Toffeeweb during a slow day in work, I never got up-to-date news or rumours from the other sites quite like I did from you guys. (GoT was one that never really came up on the radar back then and, having popped my head in over there a few weeks back for the first time, I'm very glad for that.)

Anyway, while I wait for more Zouma or Neves news, I  thought I'd post some moments that this site has imprinted onto my brain over the years. Cue highlight reel:

- Thinking 'Who is this Bilynopace guy with his unfunny comments?'

- Seeing Stealth's amazing avatar girl (back when I'd log in using a computer, a lifetime ago) and thinking to myself 'geez. Does this guy actually go out with her? Or is she some girl from...FHM, or Nuts or something, that I've never seen, and she's posing in an Everton shirt?!'

- Wishing that Verminator would wind his neck in, and thinking he was a prat for a long time, before thinking that he'd turned a corner and enjoying his posts. Pretty sure he won an award for that too, 'most improved poster', I think.

- The Muppet delegation picture which, when well timed, was one of those posts that would make me smile in work during meetings when I wasn't supposed to be smiling.

- Forgive me for this, Con, as I'm aware of your status as a foreign doctor who writes impeccably, so this description is unfair on you - but there was a guy whose first post read like it was written by a comedy foreign doctor with a poor grasp of English. Not really sure how else to describe him. Anyway, in his first post he recommended a cure for Lukaku's ailments: fisting him with rice and vitamins, as if he was a racehorse or something. Had me in tears for a good half an hour, that post. His second, third and fourth posts were nigh identical, however, and it got unfunny very quickly. Shame really. Good one hit wonder though.

- Moshiri's takeover, and whoever it was that posted the links with the comment 'p-p-powerwannnnkk!' Haha. Good stuff.

- Some poster whose name escapes me, but I remember him kicking off on Bally calling him the 'forum hard man', fuming at everyone for rating Gueye ('are you people having a fucking laugh? He's shit, I'm right, end of' etc) and then arguing that his life was better than everyone else's because he'd learned how to do backflips that particular Saturday morning. Don't think he posts anymore. I came close to stopping reading here during then.

- All of Gylfi Sigurddson's brother's amazingly long and detailed posts (including the mad early morning 'Cantstopthesig' ones) where he claimed that, statistically, his brother was better than Messi. Don't get me wrong, I love Gylfi, but...yeahhh.

- ALL the Django posts. They were amazing posts and it's a shame they've dried up, but I'm appreciating D1stin's recent efforts, so thanks for them.

Anyway, after seeing Si's thread a few weeks ago (followed by this one), I thought it a good time as any to say thanks for all the reads, opinions and, er, insight. I don't do social media much these days, so my Everton fixes come solely from this site. Nice one for doing such a good job.

Great site lads. Finally said it! Haha

Absolutely superb, some boss memories there Smithers.

Lots of top posters who are no longer around, lots of them mentioned above of course. Rhys as we said recently, gaz, the fella who's name escapes me right now but had a profile image of Ian Holloway, was proper funny and a real power user I just can't remember his name ffs. What was the gents name who was here for a very long time indeed and in a sort of assisted living facility? Had forgotten more about the blues than the likes of me will ever know..

Other departed posters of another nature, milky, George, that young lad who claimed to be able to run a prem midfield (where are you now youngster, somewhere spraying passes into the path of pacey strikers I hope), that fella who was casing stevie, and of course ballys short lived and Ill judged appearance.

Great site, I'm on it far far far too much, but it's a great site, keep it up gents.

I spend far too much time on here than is healthy but I love this place. Occasionally dip into the other sites and we are by far the best in terms of the people who post and the community in general. Iíve always found this place a well balanced, accepting and tolerant society. Posters with extreme views are quickly dealt with and for the most part you can have discussions with people who will take on board your view, even if they do t agree with it, and then put forward their view. I think the General Forum is the true jewel of this crown. We are a really broad church on NSNO and it shines through on here. Yes, there are times when people donít see eye to eye, and their are times Iíve stringly disagreed with people over things, but they are usually forgotten quickly and a civilised discussion can be had about something else. Miss @blargins (https://www.nsno.co.uk/forums/index.php?action=profile;u=54) but we are friends on FB and have a great time trolling his redneck American Father-in-Law

I spend far too much time on here than is healthy but I love this place. Occasionally dip into the other sites and we are by far the best in terms of the people who post and the community in general. I've always found this place a well balanced, accepting and tolerant society. Posters with extreme views are quickly dealt with and for the most part you can have discussions with people who will take on board your view, even if they do t agree with it, and then put forward their view. I think the General Forum is the true jewel of this crown. We are a really broad church on NSNO and it shines through on here. Yes, there are times when people don't see eye to eye, and their are times I've stringly disagreed with people over things, but they are usually forgotten quickly and a civilised discussion can be had about something else. I came here around a decade ago, I was a member of another Everton forum for a few years prior and it was pretty hostile to be honest (moderators included!). So I seeked out somewhere else to talk Everton and I ended up here after some lurking before registering. Not looked back.

HB NSNO!

...Blue Kipper always made me cringe...

Yeah... this was my old haunt.

NSNO much friendlier, tighter community and things never seem to fly off the handle, making discussion interesting and not just full of flappers with extreme opinions one way or the other ending in arguments every topic!

Sigs brother that

Don't think its his brother, but I've seen him say somewhere that there are lots of similarities between him and Sig in terms of family and upbringing and where they lived and stuff. Could be some sort of cousin maybe..

I've seen him on Reddit, twitter and here under many different names, with the same wonky stats and misrepresented findings.

His Sig videos are good though, i like watching all the fun stuff he can do with the ball. Shame he's blocked me on twitter.

Scary seeing those old posts. Found this from me in 2009.

Quote
Luis Su√°rez is only 22 and scored 4 at the weekend. He now has 49 goals in 71 matches for Ajax - well  out of our price range, but he'll be having a big money move sooner rather than later.

Personally I like Jan Vertonghen, he's friends with Fellaini, and really good - had some injury scares but he's still only young  and could be pretty amazing.
