Sigurddsson isn't a forward
42
No one can say for sure if it would help but this is one of the things that's bothering me about Silva right now. There is no experimenting with the midfield going on even though we get dominated there every match. We have no information besides Gana-Gomes-Sigurdsson (I'm being kind including Sigurdsson since he's basically a forward) is totally fucked. That strikes me as poor problem-solving on his part.

One added thing about Sigurdsson -- what is that distance covered doing for us? I think he does fuck all in terms of helping us get the ball back and I don't think he takes up good positions in attack either. Not all hard work is equal in terms of benefit to the team.

If we're not pressing effectively as a team, that has to be on Silva though rather than Sigurdsson surely?

Sigurdsson is clearly divisive, and I'd not be opposed to an experiment, but I'm not sure the distance he covers and the goals he brings would be compensated for by Bernard.

I don't know what shape our midfield rebuild is going to take but we should look at Sander Berge from Genk.

He profiles like Gomes in terms of dribbling and passing but he's younger and looks like a better defender.

That seems like a good place to start. The fee and his wages should be reasonable coming from Genk, too.

He can still start some on the left (I think Richarlison has played well on the right on the limited occasions he's been asked to) and he should get a shot at Sigurdsson's role as well (this is an experiment that needs to happen).

I think that form from the first few months is gone.

Schneiderlin/Gomes is a horrifying prospect to me. That would be the slowest midfield duo in the league. Imagine those two trying to cover all the space we leave when we commit six men forward. Brutal.

We'd see lots of crisp passes out to the fullbacks, though, if that's your thing.

Canít get over how good Southampton Schneiderlin was and how good he looked when he first joined here. Looked a proper Rolls I thought.

Jesus.

Yeah, first few months here he was the first name on the team sheet and bossing midfields. Imagine him back to that alongside a fit Gomes.

Itís true, itís weird.

Maybe his heads gone.

Doesnít have the fight for it anymore.

Silva seeís something so wants to give him time to get back to a level, but will ultimately give up.

Thatís what I reckon anyway.

Man United at least have a chance against them, however also against Man City too.

It's looking good for Liverpool, but the end of the season can be different, usually you get odd results so I expect them and likely Man City to drop more points (perhaps even just drawing some games).

Listening to him lately he genuinely sounds like he's losing some of his brain function. He sound less coherent now than he ever did and he can barely manage to string a proper sentence together.

I think he might have a genuine problem.

Getting players' names wrong last season, thinking Tosun signed from Olympiacos.

Then again, he could just be so self-absorbed that he's not bothered about details like knowing who players are or where they came from.
