49th today no? He won't be the greatest ever until he wins a world cup. I hope he does tho because he really is magnificent. And he does it all with his left foot. Imagine he could use his right foot

Dixie's goals were all in the league if I'm not corrected, Messi's are in all competitions, so i'd say that records safe.

"Sunday Bloody Sunday. What a great song. It really encapsulates the frustration of a Sunday, doesn't it? You wake up in the morning, you've got to read all the Sunday papers, the kids are running round, you've got to mow the lawn, wash the car, and you think "Sunday, bloody Sunday!"- Alan Partridge

46

He also has 23 assists which means he gets just over 1.5 goals/assists a game.

Whatever he does it will not prompt me to call one of my offspring Lionel. Even if his mates do pronounce it Leo-nel.

60 league goals, concerned you have to ask.

I don't. I was asking others to think of the difference in achievements. Messi has a massive way to go before he's near that record

It won't be equalled.  Messi is superb but Dean's record is completely different from anything else out there.

Baines is better than them both.

Messi's record this season is already a far greater achievement. the defensive stats in the league back then were a joke
Murray won't ever win a slam. Mentally not good enough

And footballs were like medicine balls back in Dean's day.

Why bother comparing?

Why didn't everyone score 60 in a season then?

didnt Dixie need a hat trick to beat the guy he was competing with to the top scorer?

He needed a hat trick, in the last game of the season, to get to 60.
