This Benfica lauding is pretty odd as Risky points out they're not even the best team in Portugal.

Zlatan cut the mustard for Inter and for Barca and he's doing the same for Milan.

Robinho put in some top performances for Milan last season, not that you'd know about that though!

Zlatan cut the mustard for Inter in Serie A. Proves nothing. For Barca he started well and then was kept out of the team by a child.

Robinho may well have, and no I never saw much of them in the league last year. But he never did it in the CL. Which is largely my point, the fact that the league itself is horrendous.

They've already lost a CL place to Germany, another might not be too far away either.

Face it, Teemu Tawio, Ambrossini, Boateng, Aquilani and the geriatrics they have in Seedorf, Nesta, Mexes are hardly going to take the Champions league by storm are they.

Napoli will find it very difficult to get out their group, Milan will probably finish 2nd to Barca in their's, only Inter will more than likely top their group and get a 2nd place team in the last 16.

No matter what though, I still dont see any Italian team making the last 8. And i'll eat my own testicles if one makes the semi's.

No, he was never kept out the team by anyone. He got injured and suspended at different points towards the end of the season and still managed 29 games, not bad considering Pep didn't talk to him for like 4 months until he left.

Robinho faired quite well in the CL with Real Madrid, he never got the chance with City and Milan didn't do enough in the tournament last year.

Face it, Nesta still proved he can do it against the top players, the performance he put in against Barcelona and Messi in particular was sublime, nothing short of world class. Mexes will be third choice CB and Seedorf will be out the team once El Shaarawy is a little older. Aquilani is a top player, and had it not been for injuries he could have easily achieved more.

Milan are actually top of their CL group, so it's very possible they can make Barca finish second.

How many of those games were sub appearances? Are you really saying Pedro didn't keep him from the starting 11?

Milan didn't do enough in the tournament last year! Exactly. They wont do anything in it this year either because the players they've brought in are not good enough and the likes of Nesta are all a year older.

Aquilani is a great player. lolol lolol. He wasn't even the best CM at Roma.

Of course it's possible Milan could finish top of their group. I find it most unlikely though.

Italian teams are simply not good enough for the latter stages of the CL. And other than Mourinho's miracles a couple of years ago with Inter the facts speak for themselves.

Was it not Roma that got absolutely turned inside out by one of the Ukraine/Russian mafia mobs last season in the last 16. By which time those teams regular season has been finished for 3 months.

In the grand scheme of things, Italian teams are a fucking shambles in the CL now.

Yes. Really. Comfortably so.

If an Italian team makes the quarters i'll be fucking amazed. Benfica are a match for anyone in the competition.

To answer your question Risky I just think they're a very, very good team. Strong in all areas of the pitch and have a game/team that would do well in just about any league.

Luisao, Cardozo, Saviola, Aimar, Javi Garcia. Class players who are a joy to watch.

Kept an eye on them since I watched them tear us to ribbons time and again 2 years since and they've improved since despite losing Di Maria.

lolol They're a neat little outfit but nowhere near the level of Barca, Real, United or Bayern.

Despite holding Utd to a 1-1 draw a fortnight ago? They also hit the post and were by far and away the better team in the 2nd half.

They should have won the game.

No chance the Italians will lose another place. Its nearly impossible for that.

they will struggle to ever get the 4th spot back though.

personally i like Serie A. I watched Juve v Milan 2 weeks ago and i thought the quality was decent (well from Juve)

United held on to a 1-1 draw against Stoke, and Stoke should have buried them easily in the game!

Have Milan only won one game all season in the league or something?

Not so great for what you claim to be the CL winners this year.

Actually MGP i may have been a little hasty in writing off Serie A's demise

When 2007 / 2008 ratings disapear next season then France and especially Portugal will put them under huge threat.

Then If Russian clubs continue to spend and grow, they may well lose an extra spot

Were it not for the fact the Russian and Ukraine teams season finishes before the knockout stages then Italy would be massively in the shit for a CL spot.
