I've been a bit disappointed to see Stones not involved a bit more. Obviously I don't know how he's been doing in training and stuff, but I'm surprised we haven't tried 3 at the back yet, or switched to it during a game.

I guess being knocked out of the League cup is a factor, plus Jags and Distin are the preferred central defensive duo who have both managed to stay fit so far during this campaign and have kept quite a few clean sheets. One thing that has surprised me is Stones seems to be ahead of Heitinga in the defensive pecking order so I think Martinez clearly rates him but the backline isn't something that should be tampered with in the same way as the midfield and the forward line.

Stones will get more chances but it could be next season before we see him play 20+ games during the next campaign.

its not dropping him mate, just resting an important player. After Palace we have some huge games coming up and cant afford our in form players getting injured. If we cant beat Palace without Lukaku we don't deserve top 4.

Why wouldn't we have Lukaku playing?

Why are some of our fans treating this like its a league cup tie?

He'd be the only player I'd rest for this reason.

Could drop Osman back besides Barry and start Barkley.

Maybe McCarthy then, and Mirallas as he's been off form.

But dropping Coleman for Stones and "resting" Lukaku? Have a fucking word boys.

Changes should be tactical not to rest players as if it's not an important game.  Players should be dropped because on yellows/in poor form, as Ram says definitely not rested like its a cup game

I didn't realise McCarthy had got that many yellow cards. In that case I'd go along with putting him on the bench with Mirallas. The rest as is.

Who do we have after the derby because he's almost definately out of that game if he doesn't get one vs Palace.
