Everton 0-0 Tottenham
Crystal Palace 0-0 Everton

Stoke 2-0 Sunderland (Adam, N'Zonzi)

Everton

The toffees go into this game on the back off one of the most thrilling Merseyside derbies during modern times. Despite a 3-3 draw against the neighbours, Everton go into this game in just seventh place, yet just three points behind Liverpool in second place. Everton have done fairly well this season and have actually gained 1 more point this season than they did from the same fixtures last season.

The above table shows how last year's top seven sides in the league have gotten on when they've faced each other. Interestingly, no team have gone without defeat, though its clearly Manchester City that have performed the best; beating Manchester United, Everton and Tottenham in their fixtures. Everton have done quite well, with a record identical to Chelsea.Three of Everton's four fixtures were at home, the only away fixture was the defeat against Manchester City. Tottenham are languishing behind.

Possible Line ups

Stoke

Despite parting ways with Tony Pulis in the summer, Stoke have been performing at a similar level to last season under the Everton fan's favourite Mark Hughes is a cunt as they have gained the same amount of points last season after 12 games as they have this season. They have also gained a similar amount of points in fixtures this season as they did in the same fixtures they played last season, gaining a point more this season as shown by this table:

Stoke have struggled to find an out and out goalscorer in their team this season as their 12 goals this season have been spread across 10 different players in the team (Including the keeper!) and only Charlie Adam has more than one goal to his name, having scored three times this season.

Stats and Injuries

Leighton Baines is the only fresh injury concern for Everton after going off with a foot injury at the weekend. Darron Gibson and Arouna Kone continue to be unavailable with long term injuries. Antolin Alcaraz could make his Everton debut after being confirmed as fit. Stoke are likely to be without Kenwyne Jones and Marc Wilson whilst Stephen Ireland could also miss out.

This will be the 123rd meeting between the sides.

I'm not sure beating Stoke at home would make a huge swing in confidence with regards to what we might do this season!

Suspect we'll see both teams scoring heavily this weekend. Just can't see Begovic covering the yards to pay in nets for both teams.

It's crucial to win this, with the games we've got coming up after it, both in terms of a confidence boost after a few draws, and in terms of securing some points before we play much harder teams.
Jeff: That's not the way to win.
Kathie: Is there a way to win?
Jeff: There's a way to lose more slowly.

Some tricky ties for those around us this weekend too..

Chelsea have Southampton at home (draw), United have to go to Spurs (draw) and the shite go to Hull (home win). These are all on Sunday, so  a win on Saturday is vital.

And Mark Hughes is a cunt.

I'd say Chelsea draw, spurs win, RS win.

Need 3 points really after 3 draws. Should win comfortably.
I have to return some videotapes.
