Last weekend's defeat at home to Notts County has left Stevenage at the bottom the League One table but only 4 points from safety. The main reason for Stevenage's troubles is a lack of fire power in front of goals having scored a meagre 24 goals in 26 league goals which is statically the worst in the entire league and have been beaten a staggering 16 times in the league already this season.
Francois Zoko, 30, who signed on a short term contract initially in October after leaving Notts County is Stevenage's top scorer this season and has scored in every round of the FA Cup so far with 4 goals in 3 games. Jordan Burrows boasts the best conversion rate however has managed just 5 shots in 12 games in League One. Stevenage have progressed past the 4th Round on just one ocassion in their history which came two years ago after they were knocked out in the 5th round after taking Premier League Tottenham Hotspur to a replay following a 0-0 scoreline at home.
You may remember that the last time Everton played Stevenage was in the second round of the Capital One Cup at Goodison Park, a match which turned out to be Roberto Martinez's first competitive win as Everton manager. It was also Deulofeu's first Everton start and fist goal and Marouane Fellaini's winner to give Everton a 2-1 lead in extra time turned out to be his final farewell before moving to Manchester United.
Although the current Everton manager is the holder of the FA Cup, he hasn't always had the best of luck in the competition. He's only progressed past this stage of the competition twice in his 6 attempts and has been knocked out by lower league oppositions on 3 occasions.
Stats and Injuries
Gerard Deulofeu and Sylvain Distin are both set to be fit for this match whilst Ross Barkley could also be involved in some capacity should he recover early from a fractured toe. Arouna Kone and Darron Gibson are long term injuries. As for Stevenage, no idea.
What's that saying about waiting an hour and two buses coming at once again? Everton have only played Stevenage once before in their history and it came earlier this season which Everton won 2-1 after Extra Time.
